Before I started Queenliz Fashion Academy in my first office, a woman came to my shop and asked if I could sew a cupped bustier for her. I confidently told her yes 😄

Her cup size was almost like mine, so I decided to use myself as the test model first before sewing hers. I drafted the cups, stitched the bustier, tried it on… and the fitting came out PERFECT

Yesterday, while arranging my wardrobe, I came across the bustier top again and decided to try it on after all these years.

Omooo it still fits perfectly!😁

One thing about fashion designing.... testing styles yourself before sewing for clients is not always easy 😩 The adjustments, resewing, and stress can be a lot sometimes 😂 But the final result? Always worth it.

This moment reminded me how far I’ve come and how much growth started from that small office ❤️

If you’re learning fashion design, keep practicing. Every great result starts with trying.

Don't Cage it Flat!

When it comes to bust caging in corset making, here's one golden rule: avoid using straight bones across the bust!

Your bust is round, not flat—so your boning must follow that natural curve.

Straight bones create pressure points and distort the shape.

Curved boning gives your overbust or cupped corset a smooth, flattering lift and better comfort.

Always mold your boning with intention.

Remember: structure is important, but so is shape.

A client once sent a message asking, “My dress is ready, right?”
At that moment, the finishing touches were still being done. It would likely be ready in a few hours, but not yet. The easy response would have been, “Yes, it’s ready, you’ll get it soon.” Just to avoid making the client worry or feel disappointed.

That moment made me reflect on how easy it is, in this business, for little “harmless” lies to become part of daily communication if we’re not careful.

As business owners, especially in this line of work, we have to be very intentional. Sometimes, instead of saying the exact situation, we may be tempted to say what sounds better or what buys us more time. But over time, if we’re not conscious, this can gradually become a habit.

Truthfulness may not always be the easiest route, but it is always the best foundation for lasting business relationships. Clients appreciate honesty and clear communication, even when things don’t go exactly as planned.

This business journey requires discipline, self-awareness, and God’s help to remain truthful and intentional in all we do.

Honesty builds trust, and trust is what keeps any business standing strong.

A sewing machine that eats money‼️‼️‼️

A sewing machine that does not feed on oil will definitely feed on your money.

Yes!
I mean it!!!

Many sewing machines feed on money.

Not other people's money. It's your money!

When the mouth of a sewing machine is dry like sand in the desert, it will definitely eat money.

The choice is yours.

It's either you feed your machine regularly with oil, or you feed it with the money in your bank account.

Engineers will be glad to collect your money. 😋😋

In case, you don't understand what I'm saying.

Just oil your sewing machine.

That's all.

Your sewing machine shouldn't be left dry.
Apply oil to the joints.

A sewing machine that feeds on oil regularly will have long life and prosperity. And that machine will not eat your money.

Do you oil your sewing machine regularly?
Or you don't?

One mistake I see too often:

People spend so much time trying to be accepted…
trying to be noticed…
trying to get into certain circles…

But they neglect the most important thing...
building themselves.

Here’s the truth:

If you focus on improving your skills, your value, and your craft…
you won’t need to chase opportunities.

Opportunities will come looking for you.

Because when you have something real to offer, you don’t beg for a seat...you’re invited to the table.

This month, shift your focus:

Stop chasing validation
Start building value
Invest in becoming better

The right people will find you.

Happy New Month 🎉
And happy birthday to all May celebrants!
