The picture in every court room is called Lady Justice (Latin: Lustitia). Her attributes are a blindfold, a balance scale and a two edge sword.
Sword: It represent the power of reason and Justice. It may be wielded either for or against any party.
Scale: To weigh the evidence presented to the court. Each side of a legal case needs to be looked at and comparison made as justice is done.
Blindfold: A court of law commences a trail of dispute with no prior knowledge of it and complete impartiality. “Justice should be rendered without passion or prejudice” to ensure a fair result.
