A friend walked into my workspace, saw my board full of formulas for cutting circle skirts—360°, 180°, 90°, even 720° and 1440°and he shouted:
I had just finished teaching my students on how to cut Circles Skirts and he was surprised and said...
“Wait what is mathematics doing in fashion designing?” 😳😂
I just laughed.
Because what most people see as “just clothes”… is actually calculation, precision, and structure behind the scenes.
That perfect flare you love?
That skirt that sits well on your waist without shifting?
That elegant flow when you walk?
It’s not magic. It’s mathematics + skill + experience.
Every degree on that board means something: 360° – full flare
180° – soft, classy fit
90° – subtle and chic
720° & 1440° – dramatic, luxury volume 😍
So when next you wear a beautiful circle skirt, just know… there’s a little math making you look THAT good 😉
And to my fellow designers this is your reminder:
what we do is deeper than people think. Respect your craft 👏
