I still can't stop laughing when I think about what happened at my friend's family wedding. My sister and I attended the beautiful celebration, which included an engagement on Friday and a church wedding and reception on Saturday.

After the church wedding, we headed to Asherly for the reception. I sat alongside the photographer and we chatted and laughed together until a woman sat down at our table, clearly upset. She was anxious that her daughter hadn't received a drink, while everyone else had been served.

It turned out that the drinks had been allocated according to the number of seats at the table, and her daughter had arrived late. As the food and drinks were being served, the woman's eyes followed every move the usher made, clearly anxious about getting food. My sister and I couldn't help but laugh at her antics. We felt a bit embarrassed for her.

Some people can get quite upset if they don't get food at an event. But there's something special about eating food served at an occasion. When it was time to serve food, I went to get some for myself and my friend. The photographer had already given us some food, but I was craving something else.

As we were eating, the woman stared at us, and then she burst into anger, lamenting that we weren't nice for not sharing our meal with the photographer's friend. What she didn't know was that he hadn't wanted to take a plate of food from us until we insisted.

My sister and I burst out laughing at the absurdity of the situation. The woman had declined my offer to get her food earlier, saying "they will bring it to her" - as if the couples or family members knew her. Not knowing that I was one of the persons who had access to the meal. It was clear that there was more to the story than met the eye, and her reaction was just too much for us to handle.

Here are 7 health precautions every baker should adhere to:

1. *Wear Protective Gear*: Wear gloves, aprons, and closed-toe shoes to prevent skin contact with ingredients and equipment.

2. *Maintain Personal Hygiene*: Wash hands frequently with soap and warm water, especially after handling raw ingredients and before handling ready-to-eat foods.

3. *Prevent Cross-Contamination*: Separate raw ingredients, equipment, and surfaces to prevent bacterial cross-contamination.

4. *Ensure Proper Storage*: Store ingredients, equipment, and baked goods in clean, dry, and designated areas to prevent contamination and pest infestation.

5. *Follow Proper Cleaning and Sanitizing Procedures*: Regularly clean and sanitize equipment, surfaces, and utensils to prevent bacterial growth.

6. *Handle Allergens Safely*: Identify and handle common allergens like nuts, gluten, and dairy safely to prevent cross-contamination and allergic reactions.

7. *Monitor Temperature and Humidity*: Maintain proper temperature and humidity controls to prevent bacterial growth, spoilage, and foodborne illness.

By following these precautions, bakers can ensure a safe and healthy working environment for themselves and their customers.

A primary school student was given ₦500 by his mom to share with his sibling for lunch, as she hadn't prepared anything that day. When the student got to school, his teacher discovered the money and was surprised, as students normally don't bring money to school.

The teacher accused the student of stealing the money, and the student, fearing punishment, lied that he had picked it up from the floor. The teacher scolded him and even flogged him.

When the student got home, he told his mom what had happened. The next day, the mom went to the school and explained to the teacher that she had indeed given her child the money.

The mom revealed that her child has a phobia of corporal punishment [canephobia or mastigophobia]. She explained that due to this phobia, her child would often lie or take responsibility for things he didn't do, just to avoid being beaten. Unfortunately, in this case, he couldn't avoid the cane.

As a parent, I believe the teacher was wrong to jump to conclusions and punish the student without first confirming the facts with the parent. If I were the parent, I would expect the teacher to contact me to verify the situation before taking any disciplinary action.
If you were the parent, what would you do?

I came across a post yesterday that left me unsettled. Someone joked about a first-class student receiving ₦33,000 as monthly allowance, while a student who had to spend an extra year in school received ₦77,000. The joke was that it 'pays to spill over' (i.e., fail and have to repeat a year).

I don't find this funny at all. While I understand that unexpected circumstances can lead to having to spend an extra year in school, I strongly believe that one should not deliberately be unserious with their academics.

If someone finds themselves in a situation where they have to repeat a year due to unforeseen circumstances or unfair treatment, I encourage them to stay prayerful, focused, and determined to come out stronger.

However, I strongly advise against intentionally failing or not putting in effort just to make a point or fit in. There are opportunities that you might miss out on due to having to spend an extra year in school.

Let's take this seriously and encourage ourselves to stay focused and determined to succeed!
