Elias Adopted Again!

Elias came back to us. Which is the part people don’t like to talk about.

He was just too much for the other dog.
Not his fault.
No drama.
Just not the right fit.

But he was adopted again today.
And this one feels different.

Someone left them in a Walmart parking lot in January.
Inside a sealed Rubbermaid container.
When a shopper heard the scratching and opened the lid, two blue merle Pitbull puppies — maybe four months old — were barely breathing. Hypothermic. Dehydrated. Both had untreated upper respiratory infections so severe their eyes were glued shut with discharge.
The emergency vet gave them a 30% survival chance. The rescue that pulled them couldn't find a foster. It was me or the worst-case scenario.
I named them Elsa and Olaf. Because they survived the cold. Because I'm cheesy like that.
The first two weeks, I slept on the bathroom floor with a humidifier running 24/7, wiping their eyes every few hours, syringe-feeding them electrolytes. My apartment smelled like mentholated v***r rub and puppy formula.
But here's the thing about Pitbulls — they're fighters. They want to live.
Elsa pulled through first. Then Olaf, who'd been the weaker one, suddenly woke up one morning with clear eyes and ate an entire bowl of kibble.
I ugly-cried in my bathroom while two snorting, wiggly puppies climbed all over me.
That was seven months ago.
Today, Elsa is 48 pounds of pure goofball energy with a gorgeous blue dappled coat. Olaf is 52 pounds of velvet hippo who's scared of the vacuum but thinks he's a guard dog.
They were throwaway puppies. Now they're my whole world.
🐕‍🦺 Medical cases aren't burdens. They're blessings in disguise.
