She was a new client. One who came through a referral.
Without long talk, as in kò sí ejo wewe. She made her payment after submitting the necessary requirements.
I commenced the business name registration in earnest.
Everything seemed to be going smoothly. Or so I thought.
Name reservation was done. I sent it to her, she was glad and so was I.
Then I proceeded to the main registration.
That was when I discovered something.
The name she filled in the form didn’t tally with the one on her NIN.
Say, her name was written as Azizah on the form, but as Azeezah on the NIN.
I noticed it. Afterwards, I told her.
She prayed.
I also prayed.
We both prayed that the CAC portal would side-eye it.
We were expecting a miracle.
At first, I hesitated... as if I already knew what was coming.
But then, I later summoned the courage.
With one click on the keyboard, I sent the application.
Immediately, guyys, the application was queried.😭😂🤲🏻
My biggest fear came true, right before my eyes.
That AI portal no dey chill rara.😂😂
That was how we lost the entire application to CAC.
I had to bear the consequences with my client.
She’s a very understanding woman. (Shoutout to you, ma, if you're seeing this.)
That mistake taught me a lot.
Now, I check applications multiple times before proceeding with registration. (Not that I don't do that before, but I've increased it).
The other day, I was even asking my client:
"Please ma, your email starts with a capital letter ‘A’. Is that correct, ma?"
That’s how seriously I now pay attention to details now 😂😂
Honestly, sometimes we learn more from mistakes/failures than success could ever teach us.
