Mama Made makes children’s clothes and gifts with love. Whenever possible, we try to use organic and/or fair trade textiles for our products. We are also big fans of vintage fabrics for unique items or custom made orders. Making new clothes from your old ones or pimping a plain t-shirt with a simple but very cute idea makes it special – to you and to your child. Haven’t we all got that one very sp

ecial item from our childhood? Mama Made would be proud to create something like this for your loved ones. For Sonja, Mama Made had already begun in 2009. Spending the first year at home after her daughter’s birth, she realised the impact a child has on one’s life and the beautiful changes it brings. She never believed for a moment that returning to her work life would be unsatisfying but priorities had shifted and dreaming about working on her own projects began to take over. Realising that much of the baby and children’s products available were a little clichéd and overpriced, she started to create and sew them herself. Her first pieces were a little rough though not without a charm derived from love and uniqueness. Through books and Youtube videos, she continued to teach herself to sew and met other mums doing the same thing. From here, the idea for a label that would provide products ‘made by mamas’ took off. Who knows children’s tastes better than mamas? Who knows mamas’ tastes better than mamas? How about creating a brand that is valued purely because it is ‘Mama Made’? And so, ‘Mama Made’ was born though not yet ready to stand on its own feet. It took another four years, daughter number two, moving countries, countless self-made projects, presents for friends and orders from people who had heard about Sonja’s work before she could make her dream a reality. The application workshop is back!

In Mama-made's all-time favourite workshop you will learn how to pimp up t-shirts, create a personal kraamcadeau or simply mend a hole in a trousers in a fun way. Come and join us on Tuesday 24th of November from 19:30 at Meet & Make Leiden.

All you need to bring is for example a t-shirt and you'll take home a beautiful present. Just in time for Sinterklaas. ;-)

Last week we made little backpacks during our workshop at Meet & Make. Beautiful, aren't they? I couldn't tell that one of them was made by a complete novice.

This week's workshops are all about applications. They are so useful in so many ways:
How about making a very personal birth present for a friend? Or covering a stain or a hole in your son's favourite t-shirt? Just adding a special note to a simple t-shirt can be so easy but has a great effect.
