💡 What can we do with floss? ♻️ Textiles!

The threads made from our floss can be crafted into knitted textiles, demonstrating how repurposed materials can find new life in practical and meaningful ways.

A heartfelt thank you to Jude Zantain for her dedicated work in bringing these textiles to life.

We’re excited to continue exploring new possibilities for harnessing the unique properties of our floss, transforming it into innovative and sustainable solutions.

💡 The floss produced with our machine offers exceptional insulating properties, making it ideal for applications in both cold and hot environments.
Additionally, the fibers can be molded or transformed into textiles like felt or woven fabrics, opening up a wide range of practical uses.

🔧 Properties 🔧
Fiber Thickness : from 10 to 50microns
Plastics : PP or PET
Insulation: 0,04 J/m (similar to glass wool)

The Polyfloss Factory Projects Throwback ! 🏁

📅2023-2024

The Polyfloss Factory has been partnering since 2023 with , Nepal Innovation Lab and Digo Bikash Samaj to install Polyfloss machines in Bhajani, Kailali.

Through the PIPER project, we’ve already insulated 12 classrooms and created local jobs. Now, we’re expanding to insulate 24 classrooms across 6 schools while raising awareness on plastic waste. 🙌💡

This project, supported by and Waste for Warmth, is a step towards a more sustainable future!

✏️ worked on delivering insulation products for emergency shelters to support the people affected by the earthquake of February 2023, in Gaziantep, Türkiye.
Insulation products were made from recycled PP plastic with the Polyfloss machine and the support of .

We had an incredible experience at the RILx24 conference, organised by and Nepal Innovation Lab, with generous support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, , and Elrha.
It was a great opportunity to showcase our work as designers and engineers, presenting our innovative solution to address the global challenge of plastic waste management.

We also engaged in many thought-provoking conversations and are excited about the potential collaborations that could emerge to help address the ongoing challenges in the humanitarian aid sector.

We’re excited for the future projects that await!

The Polyfloss Factory is joining the gathering in , Nepal !

📅 17-19 september 2024

brings together staff from RIL platforms in nine countries, global peers and partners, including leading humanitarian agencies, and leaders in social impact innovation from Nepal and the wider South Asian region to collaboratively explore the dual themes of ecosystem building and business modeling.

RILx24 is hosted by the Nepal Innovation Lab , World Vision Nepal and Response Innovation Lab, with the generous support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, , and Elrha.

The Polyfloss Factory Projects Throwback ! 🏁

🗓️ 2022-2023

✏️ and the Waste for Warmth consortium were at the initiative of an innovative pilot project in Gaziantep.
Using polyfloss material, they have developed modular insulation panels designed for hard shell shelters. These panels are encapsulated in a PP-laminated aluminum sheet, ensuring they are fire-resistant and durable. This project aim was to to provide enhanced insulation for shelters, significantly improving living conditions for residents and setting a new standard for sustainable, safe shelters solutions. 🌍🏠✨
