Hi ya’ll, it’s been a while since I’ve updated this page so I thought I would show my face. We are currently moving house this weekend and I’ll have new studio space for sewing 👌🏼! I’m so excited to announce that we have launched our bespoke children’s wear collection which is now live at www.thekiwinest.co.nz !

‘En plein air’ means ‘out in the open’ and the collection was inspired by the beauty, curiosity and movement of children in nature.

It’s a collection of 16 items made from 100% fine linen for ages 0-7 years. Each item has been designed to fit for at least two sizes possibly longer as well in quality condition.

We currently have local shipping within NZ and hope to have international shipping sorted soon. Please message if you would like an international shipping quote.

The last few months I have taken a break from blogging to work on a special project! In a few days time, The Kiwi Nest will expand and open an exclusive online shop. Our first collection entitled ‘en plein air’ is a bespoke children’s wear range that is designed for ease of natural movement of children while maintaining a beautiful fit and timeless style.

Lush magnolias and variegated ivy makes a lovely spring wreath. Currently in lockdown (isolation at home) in NZ has got me arranging flowers.. anyone else pick up new hobbies in the last year since COVID started? 💐

A big part of this year has been creating beauty and finding unexpected treasures in day to day life.

After a day of foraging some botanicals I made a simple grapevine frame for a winter wreath. I found our old shed to be the perfect backdrop for the final photo. 😍

I thought this would be fitting to share since we had our coldest day last week and eve experienced snow in Christchurch! 🥶❄️

My kids were proud of this mini herb garden planter we made from a recycled wine crate!

We have rosemary, thyme, coriander and dill growing on the front porch which is northern facing and getting the most sun this time of year!

It seems like an odd time of year to grow a garden but some plants don’t mind the cool season.

We’ve harvested some rose hips off one our very large bushes leaving some behind for the birds to enjoy in winter. Only collect from organically grown plants or forage from wild rose bushes. These are quite a large variety but you can find rose hips in a variety of sizes from 1 cm to 4cm.

After collecting you can use fresh for jellies and syrup or dry for tea and infused oil. We’ve done the later and after a week of being stored in a cool, dry place they are ready for us to use.
