Lately, while looking for inspiration for new resources for tamariki, I've realised most use cartoon images which got me thinking.

I've decided that going forward, most of my resources - beginning with the 2 I created today, will feature real-life photographs. As a kaiako, I feel this supports tamariki to better connect their learning to the real world - helping build understanding, language, and recognition in a more meaningful way.

I want my resources to feel natural, inclusive, and truly useful in everyday learning spaces, whether that's at home or in an ECE setting. 💛💚

With the heat making everyone a little tired and grumpy, I created a new set of Emotion Cards to help tamariki talk about how they were feeling instead of acting it out💛.

I printed the cards out for my 4 year old this afternoon, and they were a total hit for him⭐️. I enjoyed asking what he thought each one meant. His answers were thoughtful and honest, and gave me a sneak peak into how he sees feelings and experiences.

These moments remind us that children don't always need the right words - sometimes they just need the right tools🌱

I have been working on making the website easier to navigate, so all new resources will now appear on the home page🌿.

I've also just added "Aroha for Tamariki" - printable cards to teach tamariki what aroha looks like in everyday moments. Lulu the friendly monster shows us how we demonstrate kindness and aroha through simple, positive actions.
