Proudly designed in New Zealand. The Swazi adventure began back in October 1994. A trapper by trade, Davey Hughes and his then wife Maggie started the company after a crash in the skin market. "If I was an expert at anything, it was getting wet and cold! I had ideas, dreams and ambitions. Mags had the drive to help turn them into reality. We set out to build a company to design and make clothing t

hat would keep people dry and warm. Durable. Practical and affordable clothing." Now, Swazi has become much more than a clothing company. 26 years on it is a company with huge respect around the globe, not only for apparel, but also for it's stand on environmental issues, social justice and promotion of adventure. The Swazi promise is to continue to bring you innovative and practical Agricultural, Hunting and Outdoor Leisure clothing, but hand in hand with this assurance Swazi also undertakes to make the voice of the outdoors heard. To promote adventure, hunting and a sense of responsibility among young people. If you need to get in touch with us for any reason, don't hesitate to contact us. Also, don't forget to join Clan Swazi, so you can become a member of our family!

Last week some of the Swazi team took on the West Coast — chamois and tahr country. They drove until the road ran out, took a chopper the rest of the way in, and spent three nights in the Alps.

Sam (our South Island rep and Mackenzie Country sheep farmer), Simon (our man in the Auckland office), Christer (our Nordic rep, flying in from Scandinavia specifically for this hunt) and Peter (Christer's mate from Sweden, on his first ever NZ hunt).
By the end of day two, everyone had their animal.

Simon took his first ever chamois on a rocky face above the cloud line. Peter got his on his first NZ hunt. Sam pulled a 10.5-year-old bull tahr — an animal that had survived more West Coast winters than most hunters have hunts. Christer stalked his bull down a steep face to 280 metres. Tahr is his favourite meat in the world. He'd come a long way to get one.

The walk out wasn't easy. Rain came in, the fog dropped, and they were navigating broken country in the dark. They made the hut just before midnight.

"You can't compare this to anything else," Christer said. "The scenery, the wild country — you have to experience it to understand the greatness of it."

He'll be back. They all will.
