T I K K I Studio is a sewing studio in Queenstown, New Zealand that offer clothing and textile Repair and Alterations services, and in person sewing workshop and courses. Our goal is to connecting consumers, designers and makers through a sewing workshop that encourages the public to repair, upcycle and sew textile goods like clothing and bags so that less textile waste ends up in our landfills. W

e are acknowledging that sewing is a dying life skill that used to be passed down from mothers to daughters/sons, We want to continue that tradition of creating special bonds and sentiments and passing down a skill through our services, may it be between family or friends or our community. The accessible and fun sewing workshops provide a social space for people to feel empowered to sew their goods. Through this, you will have an opportunity to make sustainable and conscious choices and to give a prolonged life to your old items or second-hand purchases. With her background in Fashion design and sustainability, She is always up for a challenge to tackle the most interesting repair and alterations with design thinking and her experience sewing skill.

Little habits that you develop for fail proof sewing:

1. Use a seam guide. You can buy fancy Magnetic ones, or you can also cut Electrical tape into chunks and line up the long edge to your guideline.

2. Always tuck the top thread under the presserfoot to prevent messy tangles when sewing.

3. let the machine take your fabric! Use gentle but firm pressure on the fabric to guide the fabric. Making sure the edge is lined up with your seam guide.

4. Look at your guideline not your needle when sewing!
