When toddlers start fighting naps, it can be so hard to know whether they’re truly ready to drop it… or just going through a phase 🤍

And honestly?

A lot of toddlers who “seem fine” without a nap can still hit a wall by late afternoon, which often looks like:
✨ zoomies
✨ wild energy
✨ emotional meltdowns
✨ hyper behaviour
✨ harder bedtimes

Being low on sleep doesn’t always look sleepy 😅
Sometimes it looks like bouncing off the walls while surviving on crackers and chaos.

Toddler sleep can feel confusing in this stage, especially when naps become inconsistent. But small shifts to timing, rest, quiet time, and overall sleep balance can make such a difference.

This is your reminder that you don’t have to just guess your way through it 🤍

If you’re Googling baby sleep at 2am… again 🤍
You don’t need more information. You need a plan.

Because most families aren’t doing anything "wrong"… they just don’t have the right foundations in place yet.

That’s where I come in 🌿

Gentle, responsive support that actually works for your baby AND you.

DM "SLEEP" if you’re ready to stop guessing and start resting ✨

A hill I will die on 🤍

Quality sleep doesn’t just “fall into place.”

Yes, babies will sleep… but that doesn’t always mean they’re getting the kind of sleep that feels restorative, settled, or sustainable for the whole family.

Quality sleep is something we can gently support.

Not through rigid rules.
Not by leaving babies to cry.
Not by expecting perfection.

But by looking at the foundations:

🌿 timing
🌿 sleep environment
🌿 routine
🌿 feeding patterns
🌿 how your little one falls asleep

Because when those pieces come together, sleep often starts to feel easier… more predictable… and more restful for everyone 🤍

And the earlier we begin supporting those foundations, the easier sleep can become over time.

If this resonates, save it for later 🤍

There’s nothing more powerful than a parent feeling confident in their baby’s sleep 🤍.

At 4 months, sleep can start to feel unpredictable. More wake-ups, shorter naps, and lots of second guessing. But often, it’s not about doing more… it’s about making the right small changes.

For this little one's family, a few gentle tweaks to feeding, routine and timing made all the difference.

Better sleep isn’t just about longer stretches, it’s about understanding your baby, feeling empowered, and knowing what to do when things change.

So grateful to support families through this stage.

If you’re in the thick of the 4/5 month shift, you’re not alone. Don't be afraid to reach out for help.

When this baby boy's mum reached out, he was 4.5 months old and sleep was starting to feel really challenging.

Naps were short and inconsistent (& on the go), settling had become difficult, and he was regularly waking for the day at 5-6am, along with waking multiple times overnight.

We focused on creating a more predictable rhythm, reducing reliance on sleep associations, and supporting him to learn to settle independently in his cot.

In a short time, everything started to shift 🤍.

More settled naps in his bassinet, just one overnight wake for a feed, sleeping through until 7am and a much more rested family.

You don’t have to figure it all out on your own.

When toddlers are well-rested, the world feels easier to explore 🤍

More patience.
More curiosity.
More connection.

A common suggestion parents hear when sleep is tricky is to keep their baby awake longer so they’ll be “tired enough” to sleep well.

But often the opposite happens.

When babies become overtired, their bodies release cortisol and adrenaline - hormones that can make it harder to fall asleep and stay asleep.

Instead of deeper sleep, overtiredness can lead to:
- more night waking
- shorter naps
- difficulty settling.

Sleep support often starts with recognising when a baby is ready for sleep, rather than pushing past it.

Some seasons of sleep feel heavier than others.

That doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong.
Illness, development, change, exhaustion - sleep reflects the season you’re in.

Supporting sleep isn’t about control or perfection.

It’s about care, responsiveness and protecting rest where you can.

Newborn sleep is shaped by rapid brain development, an immature circadian rhythm and a limited tolerance for wakefulness 🌱.

While newborns don’t need rigid schedules, prolonged wakefulness can increase physiological stress and make sleep transitions more difficult.

Gentle awareness of awake windows helps align sleep with a newborn’s biological capacity to stay awake.

Alongside timing, environmental cues play an important role in circadian development:

• Bright daylight exposure during the day
• Low light and minimal stimulation at night
• A calm, consistent sleep environment

These supports work together to help regulate sleep as the nervous system matures.

If you’d like a 0–12 week newborn awake window guide, comment “nb awake windows” and I’ll send it to you 🤍.
