Ohhhhhh my GOODNESS - the samples have been made 😳
Our epic makers have sent through these photos overnight and LOOOOOOOOK AT THEM šŸ‘€

We made towels in this design last summer and some colours sold out in just 2 weeks… so based on feedback and MANY requests - we’ve whipped these up.
Thoughts?

noun: towelie
"A portable change room + towel all in one"

It does what it says on the *metaphorical tin*... A towel that you can change inside ANYWHERE... and dries you (like a towel should)..

S**t I love goats… you may or may not have picked this up if you follow our stories *when I actually show up on them šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø*

They make me unbelievably happy šŸ˜†

Yes this is a Towelie brand / page… but pals there’s more to life than epic, ethically made, Turkish towels šŸ˜†

If you don’t know wtf I am talking about - heeeeeeeey I’m Debs and I hit my head in 2017. After a long recovery I quit my job and started a business I had zero experience in.
Why? Because this freak accident made me realise life is short and it can change so bloody fast (I couldn’t cross a road by myself for months šŸ‘€)

Anyway - I’d never run a business. I’d barely had any real jobs šŸ˜†

I had:
- Worked at a fish and chip shop as a teenager.
- worked at Denny’s in Canada on my OE
- worked at r&r sport while I studied
- an internship lead to my job at Cycling NZ

And that’s my entire adult career šŸ˜†

No experience, no money, no worries.

But I knew I couldn’t go back… I knew I couldn’t work my arse off, not get any thanks and pay someone else’s mortgage

So this may have been the wake up call I needed.
My *why* has never been Bezos rich (that guy can get in the bin!)

It’s been
- do epic s**t
- be a good human (to my friends, family, staff, makers, etc)
- give back where we can

Annnnnnnnnd all I’ve ever wanted is a few paddocks to call my own. And some GOATS.

And thanks to taking a leap on STOKEDNZ I know have my paddocks and my goats.

Moral of the story? I dunno… but s**t I’ve been happy since I rehomed ā€œFred & Johnā€ my two goats 🤣

And maybe - go all in on you pal! No one else will 😘😘

Life is short - do cool s**t

Holy s**t. I genuinely cannot believe this is happening 🤯

We’re running our Breast Cancer event AGAIN this year.

Last year was the very first time we’d ever done it and honestly thought it would be the ONLY time.. Because I am not an event organiser.. Although maybe now I am šŸ¤”

But somehow what happened last year was one of the most special things I’ve ever been part of.

So we’re doing it again šŸ™Œ

DAY ONE:
A topless swim at Lake Rotoiti in Rotorua, NZ followed by hot pools only accessible by boat.

DAY TWO:
An epic rest + restore day with saunas, hot pools, cold plunges, clay masks, good food and all the wholesome goodness your nervous system could dream of.

And friends… it is going to be INSANE.

Last year we had women come from all over New Zealand and Australia.

THIS YEAR SOMEONE IS COMING FROM AMERICA 🤯

Like excuse me?!
That is absolutely cooked.

And yes the event isn’t until October and yes we know it’s only May 🤣
But this is EXACTLY why tickets are live now.

People are literally organising flights, road trips, accommodation, campervans and girls weekends to get here from all over the country and apparently now… the world 😭

Over the past two years together we’ve now raised more than $52,000 for Breast Cancer Foundation New Zealand which honestly blows my mind.

But the money is only one part of it.

The friendships people walked away with last year…
The connection.
The support.
The courage.
The conversations.
The laughter.
The tears.
The healing.

I genuinely cannot explain this event properly with words.
You just have to come experience it.

You can join:
šŸ‘‰ Day One
šŸ‘‰ Day Two
šŸ‘‰ or both

We’re camping between the two events too, which honestly might end up being half the magic 🤣

Anyway… I’ll pop the link here so you can read all about it.

And if you have ANY questions at all just ask me 😘 https://stokednz.co.nz/pages/help-us-fundraise-25-000-for-breast-cancer-foundation-nz

I’m Debs and I’m not a fashion designer… I just started making towelies 🤣

So naturally, when we first launched, we only made ONE size — an Adult Medium. Because that was the size *I* wanted to wear / use as a portable changing room.

Then people started asking for bigger ones.
Smaller ones.
Slimmer ones.
Roomier ones.

Which makes sense because humans come in all different shapes and sizes.

So now we’ve got a whole range.

For reference:
šŸ‘‰ I’m 165cm tall
šŸ‘‰ roughly a size 12

And in this video I’m wearing all four adult sizes — from the Adult Small through to the Adult Large — so you can get a better idea of fit.

Also worth noting:
Our sizing really depends on HOW you want your towelie to fit.

If you want:
āœ”ļø a roomy portable change room
āœ”ļø oversized cozy vibes
āœ”ļø extra space for getting changed

…you’ll probably size up.

If you want:
āœ”ļø a slimmer fit
āœ”ļø something a bit more fitted/fashionable
āœ”ļø less oversized

…you might prefer to size down.

So have a scroll through the sizing videos/photos and the measurements and if you ever get stuck — just ask us šŸ™Œ

We are SO happy to help with sizing because we know buying online can be tricky.

Standing at the beach / pool / lake / carpark…and I still see it.
people doing the towel shuffle šŸ™„

You know the one. An arm out, then the towel starts slipping.
Someone drops their un**es, chaos. Mild panic. Zero dignity. 🤣

I watch parents trying to dry kids, hold towels, not flash strangers, keep sand out of snacks… all at once.
I watch surfers balancing on one foot behind a car door like it’s an Olympic sport.
I watch grown adults pretending this is… fine.

And every time I think - maaaate. There IS an easier way.

A towelie (a literal portable change room + towel all in one)

you can dry yourself, get changed, stay warm.

If you're feeling cold post-swim? Sorted.

Busy poolside with kids? Sorted.

Van life. Camping. Events. Roadies. River dips. Sorted, sorted, sorted.

So STOP doing more towel gymnastics.
STOP with the awkward car door shields.
And no more ā€œPLEASE DON’T BLOW AWAYā€ moments šŸŒ¬ļø

Just… chuck on a towelie and carry on with your day.
Life’s hard enough šŸ˜‚

I hope not!
Incase you missed it - our kids towelies are currently NOT FOR SALE 😭.

They actually sit under the NZ nightwear safety standards (I didn’t know) and as such need a fire label attached inside.
While the NZ Commerce Commission are investigating us, we aren’t allowed to sell them. Hopefully for summer as we have HUNDREDS šŸ˜†... Kids towelie sale to celebrate anyone šŸ™‹ (when we are allowed)

If you do own one of our kids towelies, please read the info below:

We’re more than happy to send you:
* the correct fire safety label
* instructions on exactly where/how to attach it. Completely free of charge, of course.

I’m really sorry for any stress or inconvenience this may cause. This was genuinely something I didn’t realise we needed to check, but ultimately that responsibility sits with me and I fully own that.

If you have any questions or concerns at all, please reply here or email us anytime at [email protected] and we’ll get the label to you + instructions for how to sew it in.

Thanks for your understanding

I used to hear this ALL the time:

ā€œYeah but… is it actually a towel? Like… will it dry me?ā€ 🤣

And honestly my response was always:
ā€œIt’d be a pretty hopeless towel if it didn’t dry you.ā€ But hey, many like that exist in the market so it probably is a fair question.

Our Turkish Cotton towelies / towels are the BEST!

Look, I don’t fully understand the magic wizardry behind Turkish cotton 🤣 — but Turks and a lot of Europeans have used towels like this forever. The big fluffy Western towel? That’s more our thing.

Our Towelies / towels are:
āœ”ļø soft
āœ”ļø lightweight
āœ”ļø compact
āœ”ļø quick drying
āœ”ļø 100% natural fibres

Which is exactly why people love them for:

travel, van life, camping, boating, bike packing, adventures, kids swim lessons
* literally everything*

Because they dry super fast, they don’t sit around damp and gross getting that musty towel smell either

And yes… they absolutely dry you

In fact, I genuinely think they’ll be the best towel you’ve ever used.

We’ve supplied them to:

* cruise ships
* private hospitals
* retail stores all over NZ & Aus
* athletes (they were at the PARIS OLYMPICS!)
* bike packers riding around the world
* thousands of everyday legends

Once you use Turkish cotton… you won't go back!
And if you don't love it, we'll give your money back.
So you really can't lose (only if you never try Turkish Cotton 😜)

What do pyjamas and kids’ Towelies have in common? ļæ½Yeah… I didn’t think much either But friends, I’ve made a mistakešŸ¤¦ā€...

What do pyjamas and kids’ Towelies have in common?

ļæ½Yeah… I didn’t think much either

But friends, I’ve made a mistakešŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

The New Zealand Commerce Commission recently got in touch with us to let us know that our Kids’ Towelies fall under the nightwear category for fire safety regulations.

Which honestly surprised me too, because we use them as portable change rooms for lakes, rivers, pools, camping and adventures not for sleeping. But rules are rules, and because they sit under that category, they’re required to have a fire safety label sewn into the back neck area.

So here’s what we’re doing:
If you’ve ever purchased a Kids’ Towelie from us, we’re more than happy to send you:
* the correct fire safety label
* instructions on exactly where/how to attach it.
Completely free of charge, of course.

I’m really sorry for any stress or inconvenience this may cause. This was genuinely something I didn’t realise we needed to check, but ultimately that responsibility sits with me and I fully own that.

If you have any questions or concerns at all, please reply here or email us anytime at [email protected] and we’ll get the label to you + instructions for how to sew it in.

This is .live, she’s one of my most favourite humans… and this photo was taken last year at our TOPLESS swim - all in the name of raising awareness and coin for the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ…

Why?

Di’s had it twice.
The second time with 6 months to live…

That was 15 years ago…

We met through business.
Di had her experiences with BC, I started my business after recovering from a brain injury.

My biggest lesson was LIFE IS SHORT, so cool s**t!

Di gets that better than most. I think that’s why we became such good friends.

So why am I kissing her face in a hot pool?🤣

Well she mentioned after her BC recovery she hadn’t really swum anymore. People looked at her differently…

I thought huh! We make towelies (a portable change room + towel all in one). Dignity and drying. Name a better combo.
Long story short it changed her world! She was swimming again.

1:9 kiwi women are affected by BC over their lifetimes. I knew others must have felt like Di.
So we had this unhinged idea to put on a topless swim.
70 women came!
It sold out.
It was life changing.
We’ve raised over $52,000

And pals, we’re going again… even bigger this year with a two day event.
We’ve already sold heaps of tickets to epic women coming back for SECOND TIME šŸ„¹šŸ’•

It’s going to be incredible…
