Kia Ora whānau

I started a small business in Māori Art on Apparel, aware of a massive competition out in communities around the Motu, but each to their own, there is room for more.

I came up with two collections off tees for both kids and adults. These tees hold a kaupapa of strength, enlightenment, healing, spiritual being , knowledge, tikanga to our people as a wider community near and far.

The Matariki collection inspired by my babies and moko aged 9 and 12 years old, the waiata, the Kani Kani , the stories, all them.

The Manawa koru outline represents each of the 9 stars of our Māori New Years in koru form, inside each manawa star there are 8 large koru and smaller koru represent the clusters s urrounding them, so each colour of the stars are White, Red, Brown, Green, Dark blue, Light blue, Grey, Purple, Yellow. The whole design is all stars in one.

All the elements of Matariki stars have a purpo se in our everyday lives, from our loved ones that have passed, to the cl imate chang es, best times to go collect Kaimoana , too the food growing in our ground, too my favourite HIWA-I-te-RANGI ( wish upon a star) she inspires me personally because she is vibrant in colour, stands out without even knowing and fully gives us our desires, wants and needs in life itself, also yellow is a warm colour like the sun.

Basically it’s art from a canvas but transformed to KaKAHU, the same creative process we use in an studio except digital.
