♥️Never in my life would I have imagined organising a One‑Year Re‑Opening Fashion Show Celebration!

A dear volunteer once mentioned that they had been part of a fashion show in Whangarei, and the idea stayed with me. So yes, I decided we were going to have a fashion show.
When the planning began, I had no idea how precisely everything needed to be organised to make it a success. I knew I wanted the community to come together. I wanted to show people the importance of sustainability and how beautiful preloved clothing can be. I wanted them to understand our purpose and most of all, I wanted this event to be remembered for a long time.
So I started asking customers if they would like to be models. We began keeping clothing donations aside, sourcing beautiful second‑hand pieces, and as the clothing came together, I started seeing themes. I connected these themes to our daily lives, our community, and slowly a personalised speech formed - many early‑morning hours included.
I knew the music mattered, so I chose each song carefully to match every collection.

Maria Wessels was my support from beginning to end. Truly the best person to help organise this event. She helped gather sponsors, kept our costs low, and stood beside me through every step of the planning. Saskia Bekker helped match clothing, accessories, and shoes.

Piece by piece, everything fell into place. I’m a detailed person, and the small details were important. It took me a week to process the entire event and all the planning behind it. I was overwhelmed by the positive feedback, the beautiful atmosphere, and people’s kindness.

After reflecting, I realised our three main goals were achieved.Have a Heart Community Store appreciates your support, Whakatāne!
We look forward to another growing, successful, community‑supportive year and YES, we will absolutely do it again next year.

Thanks for your generosity, we were able to donate $500 to our local Have A Heart Whare Kai Affordable Food Hub, supporting families right here in our community.

I feel so privileged to have been part of today's Have a Heart Fashion Show as MC. What an absolute success it was! The room was filled with laughter, smiles, generosity, and an amazing sense of community.
