Straight from the heart of Tufi LLG in Oro Province, Maisin Designs & Crafts (MDC) proudly introduces authentic, original, and premium-quality tapa cloths—handcrafted with care and heritage by the Maisin people, one of the few remaining traditional producers of true barkcloth art in Papua New Guinea.
For generations, the Maisin community—especially among the Tufians—have been renowned across PNG and the Pacific for their distinctive tapa designs, painstakingly beaten, softened, dyed, and painted from the bark of the paper mulberry tree (Broussonetia papyrifera). These iconic patterns are not just beautiful—they are deeply symbolic, reflecting clan identity, spirituality, and a sacred connection to land and ancestry.
