, "How do you pick a mango? By throwing stones." This phrase captures how, at times, people respond to offenses or pain with actions that only worsen their situation, such as harboring unforgiveness, bitterness, or hate.
Here are two insights to help us when going through hate, bitterness and unforgiveness.

Ephesians 4:31-32 (NKJV):
"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you."

Point 1: Bitterness and Hate are Trap That Keeps You Bound

Hebrews 12:15: “See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.”
Bitterness is like a root that grows deep when left unchecked. It poisons not only our relationships but also our spiritual health. When we hold onto hate or bitterness, we allow these emotions to fester, producing damaging effects in our lives and contaminating others around us. Like throwing stones at a mango tree to get fruit, we often try to respond to hurt or offense by lashing out or harboring ill feelings, but this only damages ourselves and those around us.

Hate and bitterness are traps that the enemy uses to bind us to the past, preventing spiritual growth and causing unnecessary pain. Just as picking a mango should be done with care and patience, so should we approach offenses. Bitterness clouds our judgment and keeps us from experiencing the fullness of God's love and grace.

Bitterness leads to spiritual stagnation. If you have been throwing stones of anger, revenge, or hate, God is calling you to let go of these stones and receive the fruit of healing and freedom. The prophetic call is to uproot the bitterness and embrace forgiveness, which will release you into a new level of spiritual growth and peace.

Point 2: Unforgiveness is a greatest hindrance to Your Own Blessings
Matthew 6:14-15: “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
Unforgiveness is like throwing stones at what you want but being unable to reach it because of the very stones you're hurling. Unforgiveness blocks blessings and spiritual breakthroughs. As Jesus teaches, forgiving others opens the door for God’s forgiveness in our own lives. Holding onto offense prevents us from receiving God's grace fully.

Unforgiveness builds a wall between us and God. Just as we might want the fruit of God's blessings, refusing to forgive blocks our ability to access them. The stones we throw in unforgiveness only hurt us in the long run. God calls us to freely release forgiveness to others, as Christ has forgiven us.

Conclusion.

God is calling for a season of release. Unforgiveness has created spiritual blockages, but as you choose to forgive, you will experience a sudden outpouring of grace, favor, and restored relationships. Prophetically, this is a time of pruning – let go of the stones and receive the fruit of reconciliation and peace that God is offering.
Imagine standing under a mango tree and throwing stones to get the fruit. The stones hit the tree but bruise the mangoes. If we approach conflict or offense with unforgiveness or hatred, we damage our relationships and ourselves. But if we wait and reach out with grace and forgiveness, we receive the fruit of peace and joy without damaging our lives.
The prophetic word is that freedom from bitterness, hate, and unforgiveness is a gateway to a new spiritual harvest. God is ready to release greater blessings when we choose to let go and forgive.

As we look back on our journey as a nation, we are reminded of our struggles, triumphs, and the hope that has brought us this far. Independence is not just a time to remember our past; it’s a moment to reflect on our purpose and future.
1. Remember the Journey:
God's Faithfulness through the Years.
Deuteronomy 8:2 – “Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years...”
Over the past 49 years, Papua New Guinea has faced challenges—whether political, social, or economic. Yet, like the Israelites in the wilderness, God has been faithful to lead us. The blessings of peace, unity, and development are testimonies to His guiding hand. Today, we reflect on our journey with gratitude, acknowledging that our independence is a gift of God’s providence.
Think of a tree that has grown from a small seed. Over the years, it has weathered storms, endured dry seasons, and yet continues to grow. Papua New Guinea is like that tree, rooted in faith and strengthened by God’s presence through adversity.
We may not have a perfect history, but the same God who brought us out of bo***ge and gave us freedom will continue to be our shield and strength in the years ahead.
2. Embrace the Present:
A Call to Unity and Purpose
Ephesians 4:3 – “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”
- Independence should remind us not just of our freedom but of the responsibility that comes with it. As a nation, we must stay united, working toward common goals that honor God. Disunity, corruption, and injustice can weaken the foundation of any country. But when we embrace our diversity and stand together in the spirit of love, we become stronger.
Just as a woven mat is made up of individual strands, so too is Papua New Guinea made up of diverse people and cultures. When these strands come together, they create a strong, beautiful mat. But if the strands unravel, the entire structure weakens.
Let us embrace our identity as a diverse but united nation, seeking God’s wisdom and direction. It’s time to stand up for righteousness, fairness, and peace, knowing that the strength of the nation lies in its people working together for God’s purpose.
3. Hope for the Future:
Rise and Shine for the Glory of God
Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Isaiah 60:1 – “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.”
As we move forward, Papua New Guinea must rise in the strength of the Lord. The next phase of our independence is not just about development or economic growth; it’s about shining the light of God in every sector of society. God has a purpose for this nation, and He has placed us here to be a light to the world.
Consider a lighthouse standing tall on the coast. It may face fierce winds and storms, but its purpose is to shine light, guiding ships safely through the darkness. Papua New Guinea is called to be that lighthouse—a beacon of hope, peace, and godliness in the Pacific and beyond.
As we celebrate 49 years of independence, let us look ahead with faith and confidence. God has great plans for this nation. The youth of today, the leaders of tomorrow, and the communities across our land must rise in faith, believing that the future is bright because the Lord is with us. We are called to be a nation that reflects His glory.
Conclusion: A Prayer for the Nation
On this anniversary, let us remember that the strength of Papua New Guinea lies not only in its rich culture, beautiful land, or abundant resources. Our true strength lies in our faith in God, our unity, and our willingness to follow His plans. As we celebrate, let us recommit our hearts to the Lord, seeking His guidance and trusting in His promises.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of independence and for leading Papua New Guinea these past 49 years. We pray for continued peace, unity, and prosperity for our nation. May Your Spirit guide our leaders and empower our people to rise and shine for Your glory. Bless this nation as we seek to fulfill the purpose You have for us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
