We love seeing changemakers leading within their own communities. Across the country, we’re privileged to walk alongside First Nations’ communities who are driving community-led change grounded in culture, connection to Country and collective wisdom.

For 26 years, we've witnessed the impact of community-led projects guided by cultural knowledge, deep passion and mob showing up for each other, for culture and for Country. This is where long-lasting impact thrives.

This month, leading into International Women’s Day on 8 March, we’re highlighting the incredible women whose leadership is woven through every community.

Our friends at Advancing PNG: Women Leaders Network (APNGWLN) are a powerful example of women leading grassroots transformation in Papua New Guinea. Through their work, APNGWLN brings women together from across the nation to uplift one another, strengthen livelihoods and create opportunities for future generations. Their commitment to collaboration and community development truly embodies their motto: ‘your dream is my dream’.

Behind every stitch and dye is a story of original identity. For Miss Bird of Paradise PNG, these aren't just sashes; they are a testament to PNG’s heritage and the power of faith-led creativity."

Took 3-4 hours of hand-beading shells onto Kutubu tapa to the sustainable art of mangrove bark eco-printing, these pieces celebrate the strength of our women and the beauty of our land. We aimed for something different, something authentic, and something that honored God’s guidance. Be original, stay true to your roots, and let faith lead—the results will always be a masterpiece of culture and conservation."
Note: Just be yourself, be orginal and true to self and let God lead you through cause He did with the sashes through prayer. He guided the process from concept to completion. Thank you Lord 🙏🏼❤️💛🖤

Working with nature offers a vast and exciting creative frontier, with techniques such as using a tumeric blanket dye eco printing process on satin silk fabric shows the endless possibilities for exploration in natural dyeing and eco printing. Okari leaves really come out good on eco printing too🍃🍃☘️☘️

Experimenting with natural dyes has been a rewarding journey of trial and error. I used turmeric and mangrove bark pieces to tie-dye old white shirts and tops, and I'm thrilled with the results. Recycling old clothes this way gives them a fresh, unique look straight from nature, showcasing the beauty of working with natural elements to create something new.🪵🪵🍃🍃☘️☘️
