Our recent camping trip to Carino Beach Resort in Dingalan, Aurora was one for the books. The weather welcomed us kindly—fine and pleasantly cold—made even more refreshing by the strong sea breeze that swept through our campsite. It was the kind of wind that makes you zip up your jacket, pull your blanket closer, and feel grateful to be outdoors.
What made this trip extra special was the mix of people we brought along, especially the first-time campers. For some of them, it was their very first experience sleeping in a tent, trading their super cozy beds at home for the sound of waves and flapping tents. The day was tiring, no doubt—setting up, walking around, and adjusting to the elements—but the exhaustion was quickly replaced by laughter, stories, and memories being made. In fact, before the night even ended, some were already asking, “Where are we camping next?”
We arrived early at the campsite to secure and reserve slots for the rest of the group. It turned out to be a good call because the resort was crowded—many people were also spending the night, while others came just for a day trip. The vibe wasn’t exactly what we imagined at first, but we chose to enjoy the moment anyway. Sometimes, expectations take a backseat, and what truly matters steps forward.
And this time, what mattered most was the people. The fact that we finally got to bring them to the camp—the ones we’ve been hoping to share this experience with—made everything worth it. More than the place, the setup, or the weather, it was the shared moments that counted. Our biggest hope now is simple: that we get to do this again, with the same people, under another sky.
Food was another highlight of the night. We told everyone it would be kanya-kanyang baon—just simple, personal food. But what happened was something closer to a full-on handaan. There was so much food, and everything was delicious. Plates were passed around, laughter filled the air, and no one went hungry.
We even started drinking early, partly because the first-time campers were a little nervous. The idea of sleeping in tents, with the cold wind and unfamiliar sounds, made them miss their comfy beds back home. A few drinks, some jokes, and shared stories later, the worries slowly faded into the night.
It wasn’t a perfect camp—and that’s exactly why it was perfect. The cold wind, the crowded resort, the tired bodies, the overflowing food, and the nervous first-timers all came together to create a night that felt real, warm, and unforgettable. This camping trip reminded us that it’s not always about the place or the plan—it’s about the people you share it with, and the memories you bring home.
And honestly? We can’t wait for the next one.
