In Between Concert - Day 4

wore another custom for her Day 4 solo performance.

I was initially brought in to create a single look (the chain ensemble) for the four-night run—one moment within a concert shaped by multiple designers. That scope expanded to a second look (white and gold ensemble worn in Day 1), and ultimately a third. The night before Day 1, after our final fitting Jan Ra, and KZ approached me with a last-minute request for Day 4. With the show about to begin and time unforgiving, I said yes without hesitation.

As mentioned on my previuos post, the brief called for a gothic, skeletal presence, interpreted through abstraction rather than literal form. I translated the skeletal concept into bold, linear silhouettes, with the idea of marying it with the energy and graphic drama of David Bowie’s iconic Kansai Yamamoto striped ensemble creating a striking and conceptual statement. When I presented it, it was met not with doubt, but with trust. Grateful to KZ and Jan Ra for believing in the vision and allowing it to grow.

With just one fitting and less than 48 hours to bring the look to life, I am grateful to my production team for their precision, discipline, and dedication in realizing the vision under such intense time pressure.

The brief called for a gothic, skeletal presence. Rather than literal anatomy, visually, the rib cage is deconstructed into chains and leather strips—reinterpreted through our design language as an abstracted exoskeleton that frames the body like armor. Severe yet deliberate, the piece exists between restraint and rebellion, power and exposure—forged for dominance.
