MOSAIKO: Threads of the Metropolis by THIAN Rodriguez Manila
MOSAIKO began long before the first sketch. It began with returning to Manila—to the streets, markets, corners, and familiar places that have quietly shaped a distinct creative language. Immersing in its textures, colors, movement, commerce, and everyday encounters, allowing the city to speak before translating it into fashion. In returning to these places, familiar surroundings began to reveal themselves differently, offering not simply visual references, but fragments of memory, atmosphere, and experience—each one becoming another thread in the story waiting to be told.
From these encounters, the collection slowly took form. Sketches became studies, materials became surfaces, and the ordinary became something worth reconsidering. What began as observation evolved into a language of texture, color, embellishment, and form. MOSAIKO: Threads of the Metropolis brings these fragments together as a contemporary tapestry of Manila, where individual memories, materials, and encounters become interconnected threads within a larger story.
