A small survey of what is to come.

The TAKAORI workshop owner has a captivating ancestral history that dates back to the Middle Ages when his ancestors served as headmen governing a village.

The existence of a Samurai bearing the same family name in a nearby area hints at a possible connection to the noble warrior class. Adding to the intrigue is the family’s ownership of a crest with a rare swallowtail butterfly design.

This very crest is replicated in Sterling Silver in each frame that leaves the TAKAORI workshop.

About Us

Rotherwood Vintage prides itself in offering vintage and authentic heritage eyewear from independent brands with a century’s worth of experience (or more). We curate eyewear that were originally designed in the 1930’s to the 1960’s and source them from the actual independent brands that made them decades ago and still offer them today but in limited quantities. From time to time we will also offer actual vintage pairs as this was how the shop’s life began.

Rotherwood Vintage originally opened in 2012, selling authentic vintage eyewear ranging from 1980’s Bausch & Lomb Ray-Bans to various American eyewear from the 1960’s. In 2020, we open our doors again to offer unique eyewear styles with unbeatable old-world charm. There’s a reason why they are still being made today.
