Woven by Luigi Bevilacqua atelier in Venice, this lamé velvet was acquired by Jeanne Lanvin in 1927 and is still preserved in her office.

Bevilacqua’s manual weaving mill was founded in 1875 in Venice.

The fabric reflects a 500-year-old savoir-faire, with only 35 centimeters handmade per day.

Unique pieces made by Lanvin with Bevilacqua’s fabrics, from the Veneto region.

An existing law could unlock an P8.9-billion annual opportunity for the Philippine textile industry.

Under the Philippine Tropical Fabrics Law, government agencies are required to use locally sourced and processed natural fiber textiles for official uniforms and government-issued attire. Full compliance could translate to demand for around 30 million meters of fabric every year.

With consistent demand from government procurement, the law has the potential to strengthen an interconnected domestic industry while creating a more stable market for local producers.
