PAROPAM – NATURAL HANDMADE WOOLEN FABRICS
============================================
Paropam hand-spun and hand-woven fabrics are sustainably produced in the marvellous valleys of SWAT,Kashmir,Gilgit-Baltistan, Dir, Kohistan and Chitral, using locally produced 100% organic sheep, yak and angora wools. These durable heirloom fabrics that can last a l
ifetime range in touch from dense and sturdy, to something altogether more light and soft. There are no factories or workshops producing these fine fabrics, but they are rather made in the homes of the weavers, most often out on the verandas of traditional stone and timber houses, facing sweeping majestic views of snow peaks. Paropam is the platform where natural handmade woollen products are prepared under the supervision of experienced professionals to produce fine and quality products. Paropam – Handicrafts has its teams to run its sections from ancient to modern designs, trainings to train more human resource for more & more production, choosing quality material for quality handicrafts. The natural handmade woollen products are almost prepared through the families who had learnt the techniques of traditional looms from generation to generation and today the art is improved enough that any desired design can be added to the products according to the interest of buyers. We hope that by promoting these fabrics we are not only offering a sound source of income for the weavers, many of whom live in remote and hardly accessible areas, where there’s lack of jobs and other income opportunities, but we are also in focus to preserve these time tested, sustainable practices that are losing ground to cheap, mass produced materials. And above all, we hope to provide inspiration to our clients with the uniqueness, excellence and purity of our natural woollen fabrics, handicrafts, antiques etc.
