Can you wear leather in the rain? Yes. Next question.
The idea that water ruins leather has kept too many good jackets in the
wardrobe on grey days. A finished, full-grain jacket is tanned and sealed to
handle weather. A drizzle, or a dash between doorways, will not hurt it.
The real enemy was never the rain. It is drying wrong. Heat is what cracks
leather, so keep it away from radiators and hairdryers. If a jacket soaks
through: wipe it down, air dry it on a wide padded hanger, and only condition
it once it is fully dry.
And if you are ever unsure what you own, one drop of water will tell you. If it
beads and sits, wear it out with confidence. If it drinks it in, you have a
natural-face leather, so give it a little more care.
Swipe through the care tag, and save it for the next grey morning.
