The final solar eclipse of 2025 will take place on September 21, just a day before the September equinox. This will be a partial solar eclipse, visible across New Zealand, Antarctica, and parts of the South Pacific.

Although it won’t be a total eclipse, it will be a striking one — with the moon covering up to 86% of the sun. The clearest views are expected in southern New Zealand, several Antarctic research bases, and select Pacific islands.

What makes this event special is its timing: it happens right before the equinox, the point when the sun crosses the celestial equator, ushering in spring in the Southern Hemisphere and autumn in the Northern Hemisphere.

OpenAI and Microsoft Move to Reshape Partnership

OpenAI is planning major changes to its revenue-sharing deal with Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) and other partners, according to The Information. The AI firm aims to cut the current 20% share down to around 8% by 2030.

If finalized, the new terms could bring in more than $50 billion in extra revenue for OpenAI, though the report did not clarify whether this figure would apply annually or in total.

The discussions, led by CEO Sam Altman, also cover the costs OpenAI pays to Microsoft for access to its cloud servers. Sources familiar with the talks said both sides are negotiating how those expenses will be structured moving forward.

Just last Friday, OpenAI and Microsoft announced a non-binding agreement to revisit the terms of their long-standing partnership. Under the current setup, OpenAI’s nonprofit arm is entitled to roughly 20%—about $100 billion—of the $500 billion valuation the company is pursuing in private markets.

The strong demand for the base iPhone 17 comes not only from it being the most affordable option but also because Apple’s upgrades this year make it a highly valuable premium device.

Compared to the iPhone 16, the new model features a larger 6.3-inch display, 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate, and always-on display support. The selfie camera has been significantly improved, while the rear ultra-wide lens now offers 48 megapixels. Storage has also doubled to 256GB, all while keeping the same $799 starting price.

Robust sales in China are reassuring for investors concerned about Apple losing ground to local competitors.

In the U.S., supply is already constrained, with the Apple Online Store showing 2–3 week delivery estimates for some versions. The iPhone 17 Pro is also performing strongly.

Apple will officially share results for the third quarter during its October earnings call, though that will only reflect a couple weeks of iPhone 17 sales. The majority of demand for iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17 Pro will be recognized in the holiday quarter.
