Wednesday: 625 arrests
most of them minors
83 police officers injured on Wednesday
48 earlier
injured teachers and students as well
hundreds of schools under blockade

Government: grievances are allowed; violence at schools is not.

Mélenchon / LFI / the Left: the students are “harmless,” the intervention is “repression with a racist undertone,” “hands off our youth.”

Same pattern as always:

First fire and stones,
then the lecture that the real problem is the racism of the state.

On September 21, 1452, Girolamo Savonarola was born — a Dominican friar, preacher, and one of the most famous reformers of the Renaissance.

He called Florence to moral renewal, denounced the corruption of the Church and the Medici, and for a brief time even ruled the city in the spirit of a harsh “republic of virtue.” It ended at the stake in 1498.
