Oud, also known as Agarwood is one of the key ingredients of Alam Al Aseel
Perfumes. And, not only Alam Alaseel, but people also love to wear the premium
oud scent available in different brands. The Oud has a special place in the culture
of Arab and Middle-East countries. People here love to use it in Traditional
Bakhoor for special occasions at wedding. And, also the Oud Oil and Spray
Perfumes are very popular here.
Where it comes from?
The Oud that we use at Alam Alaseel is sourced from the rare Cambodian species
of Agarwood Tree - Aquilaria Crassna. The Heartwood of the trees produces a
dark scented resin, after reacting with a particular type of mold. The infected dark
resinous wood is called as Agarwood and also Oud.
The smell of Cambodian Oud is mesmerizing and lovable. It has a sweet and fruity
aroma and a subtle layer of the smell of wood, to***co or spices.
The Oud is used in both forms as natural Agarwood and also Oud Oil. The Oud oil
is extracted by processing the distillation of Agarwood. The extracted Cambodian
Oud oil is dark in color as compared to the Indian version of Oud.
Value of Oud in the Perfume Industry?
Some refer to this scent as more precious than gold, and yes it is. Perfume
manufacturing companies are putting their best efforts and money to source the
best of the available Oud woods or Oud oil. Today, the Cambodian Oud is very
rare and precious. Its cultivation is depleting and very few old Agarwood trees can
produce the best quality.
