Help Us Build a Viking Museum in Our Garden
We’ve been Viking Age reenactors since 1992 and 1994. For us, this is not just a hobby—it’s our way of life. Our children grew up surrounded by Viking history, and over the years we’ve built a global community of friends who share this passion—from South America and the USA to Russia, Australia, New Zealand, and all across Europe.
Now we are taking the next step: creating a Viking museum right here in our garden.
Why This Matters So Much
Behind this dream lies a very personal story. I (Linda) live with several chronic illnesses and disabilities that make everyday life extremely difficult. I can only sit up for a few hours a day, and the rest of the time I’m bedridden. My husband Carl is my full-time support—he takes care of me while also building the museum with his own hands.
Despite this, Viking reenactment has always been the heart of my life. It’s what keeps me going. It gives me a reason to fight through pain and fatigue, and a way to share knowledge and joy with others.
That’s why this museum means more to us than just a building. It represents hope, purpose, and a way to keep history alive—not only for us, but for future generations.
Our Vision
We have an old outbuilding that we are transforming into a living history space, decorated with carefully crafted replicas of Viking furniture, cooking tools, clothes, embroidery, lamps, plates, jewellery, and more.
There will also be different “stations” where visitors can experience Viking life:
• Cooking and food culture
• Textile crafts (embroidery, nalbinding, weaving)
• Games and storytelling
• A small silver workshop
• Viking-style beds and daily life displays
And of course—a small museum shop, where we can sell our own crafts and those of our talented friends.
We live just 10 km from Gekås Ullared, one of the largest shopping centers in Northern Europe with nearly 4 million visitors a year. We believe this museum can become something truly unique and attract many curious visitors.
Where We Are Now
We’ve already begun. One side of the building is nearly finished, and the front is in place but still needs two doors before winter arrives. We also need to install flooring, finish the other gable, and prepare the interior.
During summers, I have managed to hold small workshops to raise money for materials. Carl builds everything himself while also taking care of me, and I manage all the online work and planning. But we’ve reached a point where we need more help to move forward.
How You Can Help
We’ve started a small business to support this project, but due to our health and financial situation, we cannot take loans. That’s why we are turning to you—our friends, our community, and everyone who believes in keeping history alive.
Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer. Even the smallest donation (50 SEK / €5) makes a real difference. And if you can’t donate, sharing this campaign helps us just as much.
Our Goal
The plan is to open the Viking museum in September next year. A place where children, tourists, and history lovers can experience Viking life up close. A place filled with knowledge, passion, and authenticity.
We would be deeply grateful for your support in making this dream come true. Together, we can bring the Viking spirit to life—right here in our garden.
Thank you—and welcome to the journey!
Carl & Linda
