Coat-thing made from an uninventive thrifted denim coat. Reshaped the back to the most dramatic curve and transformed the sleeves into extra twirl volume. Also gigantic pockets ✨ and Norwegian sweater (lusekofta) clasps.
So damn please with that thing !

Shirt is also thrifted and bleach painted, hat is thrifted, poofy trousers made by me long ago. Shawl from Swedish folk costume.

It's been a while... I've been sewing a lot lately, but haven't woven nor dyed in two years. Yesterday it happened again ! I needed some bright, warm yellow, which I got on cotton (left) and merino wool (right) with a lot of curcuma and a bit of onion peels. The white yarn is the merino wool before the dye, for comparison. Happy with the result ! Soon pics of the weaving.

Färgat med gurkmeja + liiite lökskal på bomull (vänster) och merinoull (höger), med ofärgad merino för referens.

Teinture curcuma + quelques pelures d'oignon sur coton mercerisé (gauche) et laine mérino (droite), pelote de mérino blanc pour comparer.

EN - Short documentary from French radio about warrior women in the Middle-Ages (yep).

FR - Le Moyen-Age est ENFIN en train de perdre son image d'obscurantisme et ca fait tellement plaisir à voir ! On parle de plus en plus des femmes lettrées et savantes, des femmes guerrières, des bains publics très prisés à l'époque... Certes une époque très religieuse, mais pas obscure pour autant !

Some leftovers of candles became new candles and I'm testing different ways of dyeing with walnuts ! Also lots of sewing giving nothing to be shown in pictures (trust me, it's just stitches).

This is the most incredible and beautiful textile work I've ever seen (and I watch lotus silk videos). The craftmanship is astounding at all steps and the final result is dreamy. Just a bit sad that it's a white woman who gets to wear it in the end and also that we don't know how life goes for the spiders after completing silk-giving duty. Silk is amazing but I'd rather have it cruelty free.

Still not much to show, but making progress on these trousers... Patterning and mock-uping are hard, and tedious, and take a long time, but I think the result will be worth it !

Pretty accurate summary of my life these days. I've not been weaving for months, but sewing quite a lot and especially learning something : PATTERNING. It's hard and it takes absolutely ages, but I do believe in its magical powers of making fitted clothes in the end. Sadly, patterning and its annoying sibling called mockuping are both extremely unflattering in pictures in general - hence the few images posted on this Page lately. I hope to have nice trousers to show in a few weeks though !
