🦅 Bird paradise 🦉

We went to check out the newly opened birds of paradise at Mandai.

The water play was unfortunately still closed as a child fell and broke his teeth.

The new park is well thought out with the birds looking happy and able to freely fly around in their large aviaries.

Being a newly opened park tho = new trees so shade was minimal in the enclosures and boy was it hot hot hot 🥵. There was respite at the entrance of each enclosure with information about the birds.

There was a food court inside the park itself serving various different cuisines. A tree top playground next to it for kids to run around and play.

Key tips - pack plenty of water, sunscreen & hats etc.
Parking is the 1st car park, car park west.
Look at the timings for the bird shows.
The aviaries are all connected so you can walk in a loop.

With the backdrop of the Singapore straits with boat and plane watching as past times, is the coastal playgrove playground.

The dry parts include an epic climbing frame with very big metal slide (not as hot as I expected but because everyone is so sweaty, you could hear them screech as they were stuck onto the slide.) Definitely one for the older kids!
Sand pit which was partly shaded and friendships made over a bucket and spade.
Nature play are which my city kids were not at all interested in.
The water play was perfect for the two, great non slip surface for Asher to run around on and a little oasis with plenty of plants to make leaf boats.

✅ hungry jacks, old town coffee & breezes

One of the better known water play areas - The Far East Children’s Garden is at the gardens by the bay. The water play area has showers, bathrooms, cafe & shaded seated area for parents.

There’s - dry section - treehouse jungle playground. Which has sand and lots of trees.

Note: in the sun the concrete between the water play and shaded area is burning hot!! My precious feet 🙈

This is a long trek from the closest mtr

With plenty of space to run, different plants to discover, old fort gates and cannons to explore - fort canning park was not my city kids cup of tea 😂😆 not at all impressed by the natural wooden beans, the climbing frames or the cool forts and lighthouses.

Although he did love seeing the wild chicken 🤷🏻‍♀️ and dragon flies.

I guess I better work on the outdoor play. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Spent a few hours with the grandparents at the SEA aquarium.

Plenty of cool and colourful sea creatures including the playful dolphins!!

My favourite were the fried egg jellyfish with their purple end tentacles (photo 7) and the decorator crabs.

Plenty of space to run around and it ended with touching a starfish 😍

Great rainy day activity

Nestled in the blocks of is this amazing playground. Being hot hot hot, the kids mainly spent it in the water park part. There’s showers and open cubicles to wash off.

The dry parts of the playground included a pump track - perfect to scoot around, some sort of climbing and slide structure, trampolines, a massive sand pit with a flying fox.

Mid week play at where is was nice and quiet. There was a buy 1 hour get 1 hour free special on.

Flip out is probably suited to older kids with the ninja zone, climbing, parkour and trampolines.

The under 130cm section had its own trampoline set which is nice and not to worry about big kids hurting little ones. The fun thing was the interactive slide like you were playing mario kart collecting coins!

Definitely good decision not bringing little Elijah. As it meant Asher could have a lot more fun ❤️

$16 for 1 hour (but we got 1 hour free)
$3.50 for grippy socks

City of Casey pop up playgroups

Held every Tuesday rain or shine, the playgroups are set up in playgrounds around our council. For end of term there’s a big play date with more stations and fun.

Shauna and Glenn set up rotating fun activities for the boys to engage in whilst advertising the new parks to explore. Check them out on the city of Casey pop up playgroup website.

Best of all… it’s free ☺️ well my parents pay for it in their rates

Zoo fun! Great weather and day out today.

As we had a staycation at the city, we headed to the Melbourne Zoo. Plenty of fun and space to run around as we checked out the various different animals.

🦁🐯🐧🐒🐸🦒🐘🦛🦓🦍🦧

Zoo membership is perfect if you plan to go to Healsville, Werribee and Melbourne zoo more than 3 times in a year. Which we would if it wasn’t such a hike!!

We have been very busy the past few months in Melbourne but I thought I would post some of the fun activities we have been upto.

Today we went to the Sherwood Park Orchard for some apple picking. The apple trees were perfect heights for both little Elijah and Asher. Sundowners we’re ready to be picked and it was plentiful. At $4 a kg and no entry fee to pick and taste, what a bargain. Then there’s a little cafe for delicious treats. 🍎🍏☺️

There were free roaming chickens in the orchard, to add to the fun of it all.

Perfect day and great morning!

Nothing is more dreaded than a long flight! Having done many both solo and with help, one child and two boys, here are my top tips for keeping them busy!!

✈️ pack endless snacks
🛫 aim to feed during take off and landing (older kids a lollipop to suck on) to help with pressure
✈️ take away favourite toys a week before and some new toys, wrap them. Unwrapping is one activity.
✈️ stickers, colouring books, washi tape
✈️mini playdoh kit, cleaning and wiping up was another activity
✈️improvise - who knew putting the headphones in the headphone jack would entertain him. Stacking water cups. If you are game, pouring water between cups. Pressing all the buttons on the remote.
✈️spare clothes for both yourself and the kids. Nothing worse than having to sit in spew for the entire flight.
✈️medications - paracetamol, ibuprofen, antihistamine, hydrocortisone (if applicable)
✈️ lots of nappies - we had a poo day and almost ran out!!
✈️ split up before boarding, 1 parent run them raggered and the other take the bags and prepare the seats. (Comforter, headphones prepared)
✈️ if your child is too big for the bassinet, aiming for an entire row will be more comfortable as they can lie down to sleep so long as the seatbelt is on. Most airlines won’t let you keep your baby in the bassinet during turbulence so is disruptive waking them up.

Most importantly don’t stress! The white noise from the plane, excitement of the adventure.

Thank you to all our valued customers.
We like many other families have made the heart breaking decision to split our family again and take a break from HK. Each family will have their own pros and cons and make their own decision. For us our little guy needs access to a hospital for his medical condition.

Our content will mainly focus on ideas to do with your kids for the next few months.

Good luck for those families in similar situations ❤️
