A full & meaningful day—simple moments together with my hubby, morning breakfast together, a swim and then ending with something that clearly stayed with me. In the afternoon, the film I watched is about Jaafar Jackson portraying Michael Jackson, and it’s interesting how I am who aren’t hardcore fan can still feel the weight of his story. His life has that contrast that’s hard to ignore—massive global fame on one side, and a very unusual, often difficult childhood on the other. He carried that childlike energy into adulthood. Growing up in The Jackson 5 meant constant performing from a very young age, so it makes sense he tried to reclaim pieces of childhood later—whether that was through animals, his home environment, or just how he interacted with people.
I love the scene when he greeted a simple 'hi' to a couple passing by him when he was strolling with his pet, llama. The scene when he brought back a monkey pet. His world wasn’t built like a typical adult life. It was almost like he was trying to create a space where he could experience things he didn’t get earlier. The burn accident, still acknowledging fans (wave 👋 )when he was lying on the stretcher in the midst to the hospital. The quiet eye contact with his driver/ body guide before going on stage—those small scenes often say more than the big performances. They show the discipline and pressure behind the image. The burn incident during a Pepsi commercial shoot, which became a turning point in his appearance and health.
Also, funny how my outfit dilemma—black or white Chiffon Top—kind of mirrors Black or White without even planning it. That’s very on theme for the day 😄
What stood out is that I wasn’t just watching the film—I noticed the human side behind the icon. That’s usually what makes a biographical movie stick.
"Did the movie change how I see him, or just deepen what I already thought?" There are rumors that he was converted to a Muslim before he left the world. Whatever good or bad is between him and god.
I think 🤔 he is a simple, creative kind person.
