Ask the Optometrist: Why does everything blur up close? 🧐

If close-up text looks fuzzy or stretched even when your distance vision is fine, you might be dealing with astigmatism — not just short or long-sightedness.

It's simply caused by an irregular curve in your cornea or lens, and it's tested at every eye exam we do. Most people with it just need the right lens correction.

UV exposure adds up even on cloudy days, and it affects your eyes just as much as your skin. If your current sunglasses don't have proper UV protection, they're doing more harm than good (dark lenses without UV coating make your pupils dilate and let in more UV).

Come check your current pair, or get fitted for proper UV-protective lenses — prescription or not.
