๐ธ๐ฑ SIERRA LEONE @ 65 โ A MESSAGE OF UNITY & PRIDE ๐ธ๐ฑ
My beloved people of Sierra Leone,
Today, as we proudly celebrate 65 years of independence, we stand tall as a nation of strength, resilience, and unbreakable spirit. On this historic day, we remember the courage of our forefathers who led us to freedom on April 27, 1961โa day that marked the birth of our sovereignty and the rise of our national identity.
From the leadership of Sir Milton Margai, who guided us into independence, to every citizen who has contributed to nation-building, our journey has been one of both trials and triumphs.
A Brief History (1961โ2026):
After gaining independence from United Kingdom in 1961, Sierra Leone began its journey as a democratic nation. Over the decades, we experienced political changes, including becoming a republic in 1971. Our nation also faced a painful chapter during the Sierra Leone Civil War, which tested our unity and strength.
Yet, through resilience and determination, peace was restored in 2002. Since then, Sierra Leone has continued to rebuild, strengthen democracy, and strive for development in education, health, and infrastructure. Today, in 2026, we stand as a nation moving forwardโfull of hope, talent, and potential.
A Message to the Nation:
Let this 65th Independence Anniversary remind us that our strength lies in unityโnot tribe, region, or religion, but one people, one nation. We must rise above division and work together to build a brighter future for our children.
Let us honor our past by shaping a better tomorrow. Let us invest in education, empower our youth, and protect the peace we fought so hard to achieve. Sierra Leone is richโnot only in natural resources, but in the greatness of its people.
Together, we can achieve more. Together, we will rise.
Happy 65th Independence Anniversary!
Long live Sierra Leone! ๐ธ๐ฑ
