Both sides of the Toposa community are facing a worsening situation that is gradually undermining the values and ideals that once defined them. Instead of promoting unity, fairness, and collective progress, there is a growing tendency toward division and self-interest. This shift is weakening trust within the community and creating an environment where personal gain is often placed above the common good. As a result, the original ideals of integrity, equality, and mutual respect among the Toposa people are being eroded.
One of the most visible examples of this problem can be seen in employment practices. When a Toposa individual is appointed to a high position, such as a minister or commissioner, there is often a pattern of favoritism where they prioritize employing their own relatives. In many cases, these officials go further by influencing or directing directors of companies and organizations to hire their family members, allowing them to occupy important positions regardless of their qualifications or experience. This practice not only denies opportunities to more capable and deserving individuals, but also weakens the performance and credibility of institutions. Over time, such actions contribute to inequality, reduce public confidence, and hinder sustainable development within both the community and the wider society.
