Vision Care Associates Vision Care Associates is a leader in eyecare with 22 locations in South Dakota and Nebraska.

Vision Care Associates has its roots in family eye care and has developed around this idea that patients become family. Initially, in 1977 Dr. Paul Bell and his son Dr. Gordon Bell partnered their practice of Bell & Bell with Dr. James Olson to form Vision Care Center. Then in 1982, Dr. James Ruch merged with this trio to form the first Vision Care Associates. The first offices were in Aberdeen and Britton, but Mobridge was soon to follow. From there, with the philosophy of bringing exceptional healthcare to rural South Dakota, several other locations were opened around northeastern South Dakota.

October is Halloween Safety Month! Talk to your goblins and ghosts about how to be safe this Halloween by following these safety tips:
• Keep children’s eyes clear of anything that could obstruct their vision.
• Make sure masks, face paint, and accessories don’t interfere with a child’s ability to see clearly.
• Always purchase and have costume contact lenses properly fitted through an optometrist’s office.
• And, as always, walk ,not run, and use sidewalks and crosswalks when possible.

Our Vision Care Associates office in Eagle Butte will hold its last clinic day on October 26, 2026. The office will remain open until November 23, 2026 to dispense the last eyewear and contact lenses and finalize payments. Products that have not been dispensed by that date will be transported to the Mobridge location where they can be dispensed at your convenience.

Vision Care Associates has provided care to the Eagle Butte community since 1993. Our remaining 21 locations will continue to serve our patients as usual. Mobridge and Gettysburg are clinics near to you and we encourage you to make future appointments at these locations.

It has been a privilege to serve the Eagle Butte community, and we hope to continue doing so at Mobridge and Gettysburg!
