The composition of Pyrex glass was originally created by scientists for use in laboratory glassware, railroad lanterns and battery jars. The idea for Pyrex cookware came about in 1913 when the wife of a Corning Industries scientist asked her husband to bring home some glass to replace a recently cracked casserole dish. He brought home the bottom of a battery jar, which she used to bake a cake, and in turn inspired the development of Pyrex cookware! We've recently received a large Pyrex collection consisting of a wide variety of colors, patterns, and sizes - all are available at 616 Commercial in historic downtown Anacortes.
