Natalie’s Story
When I was getting married, almost 10 years ago, a trend that was popping up everywhere was the “hand-painted map,” and I quickly fell in love with the idea. It was then that I was inspired to put pen to paper and create a map of Athens, Georgia – the home of my alma mater, where I met my husband, James, and where we tied the knot and planted our roots. I continued to paint maps for friends and family in the years after we got married, then for clients and brides getting married all over the country, and even the world!
What started as a stationery and custom art business quickly expanded. As our family grew to include our son, Archie (2014), and daughter, June (2018), our collection of handmade products grew, too, including everything from art prints to gifts to apparel and more. I’m always daydreaming about what comes next! Over the years we’ve collaborated with other small businesses in the US to create lines of letterpress products, woodcut ornaments, and screenprinted t-shirts, to name just a few.
One of my all-time favorite things to do when traveling to a new city is to seek out the spots that make it truly unique. The mom-and-pop bookstore locals love, the hole-in-the-wall restaurant that’s a well-kept secret, the historic theater on the corner of the old downtown square -- these places are important characters in the memories and stories of peoples’ lives. Capturing them in my artwork is one of my greatest joys!
Most days I can be found working in my home studio every chance I get, while also balancing my two children and husband in a small town right outside Athens, Georgia – where it all began! We hope you’ll follow along as we continue to grow, bringing you more pieces that give you a sense of pride, a bit of happiness, and maybe a teeny tiny twinge of nostalgia, too.
