Throwback Thursday remembering Rio Mall - the midtown postmodern fever dream of gilded frogs, fiber‑optic ponds (watch your step on that bridge), and late ’80s colors. A whole geodesic globe rising over Piedmont like Atlanta’s own mini-EPCOT. Absurd but strangely attractive, and gone too soon.

Nothing says ’70s cool like rattan and macrame. Rattan really took off with the relaxed, eclectic boho vibe that was so popular. The high back Peacock Chair became a defining piece after showing up in celebrity photo shoots, album covers, and film posters. Al Green, Donna Summer, Dolly Parton and Funkadelic all ended up photographed in one at some point!

Throwback Thursday to Memphis style! Memphis was a Milan design group that used laminates, loud color, and sharp geometry to reject the polite modernism of the 70s. Their first collection debuted at Salone del Mobile in 1981 which caused a full‑on design uproar, described as "A shotgun wedding between Bauhaus and Fisher Price", but the design magazines ate it up. And its influence was EVERYWHERE from clothing & furniture to toys & TV bumpers.
