One of the hardest lessons I had to learn was the role I played in my own suffering. đ»
There were seasons where I could name everything that happened to me, everything someone else did, every disappointment, every betrayal, every reason I felt the way I did.
And some of it was valid.
But eventually I had to ask myself a harder questionâŠ.
What am I continuing to choose, tolerate, repeat, or avoid that is keeping me connected to this pain?
That question changed something in me.
Because ownership gave me somewhere to move.
I could not rewrite what happened. I could not control how other people showed up. But I could look at my patterns, my boundaries, my decisions, my fears, and the places where I kept abandoning myself just to stay connected to something that was hurting me.
Owning my part was uncomfortable.
It was also freeing.
It gave me back my agency.
And once I could see where I had participated in my own suffering, I could finally start making different choices.
Sometimes healing begins with asking:
đȘ What part of this is still in my hands?
