I’m about done with this 5” coil spring belt knife.

The handle is deer antler, Mexican Ebony, and a leather spacer to lock it all together. There is a brass piece to protect the face of the wood on the accent piece too.

On to the sheath.

Mystery wood handle and yes, the customer wanted a shorter than usual handle.

This is my take on a Japanese Nakiri. The blade is 7” long and 2 1/4” wide. This one was built from an old concrete cutting blade.

The handle is a sandwich construction of dark mystery wood withy a light piece of Lati. The accent piece is a piece of rainbow swirl kirinite. It also has a yellow G10 spacer.

Now on to make a sleeve for it.

Here are five that survived the quench and have been tempered. I soak them in vinegar to take the forge scale off before I start sanding the blades.

I have the handle for the 6” santoku blade almost built. All will have multipiece handles. Lots of work for the next few days.

Ok, these are the last blades I’m forging for a few day. With these, I have 5 ready for the quench. I’ll start getting them in the oil in the morning.

Besides polishing, then comes quite a bit of work building concealed tang handles.

My hammer hand needs a break so it’s all good 😀

Six inch santoku chef knife and a little neck knife.

These are 3 that have been forged and hammer marks ground out. I just ran them through a normalization cycle and I think I’ll put them through 3 of them.

One is a bit longer version of a mini seax I just forged for someone. This one is also hammered out of a piece of coil spring.

The other 2 are chef knives. The smaller one is from a piece of W2 tool steel and the 10” one from 1060 spring steel.

Sure hope they survive the quench…
