Your parents may have given you the best career advice they had.

That doesn’t mean it has to become the blueprint for your life.

A lot of us were taught to find something stable, make good money, work hard, be grateful and don’t risk a “good thing.”

And then we did exactly that…

only to realize we built careers that look successful from the outside and don’t actually feel like ours.

That’s not a reason to quit your job tomorrow.

It’s a reason to start asking better questions.

What does success mean to ME now?

Not my parents.
Not my résumé.
Not LinkedIn.
Not the version of me who chose this career ten years ago.

Me. Now.

Because you can respect where you came from without letting it decide where you go next.

What’s one piece of career advice you were raised with that you’re starting to question? 👇🏽

And if you’re trying to figure out what you actually want next, that’s the work I do. I help women build careers they love. Apply for 1:1 coaching through the link in my bio. ✦

You didn’t lose your power.

You were taught to second-guess it.

To ask permission.
To be agreeable.
To make yourself easier to understand.
To trust everyone else’s judgment before your own.

And after enough years of that, power can start to feel like something you need to “get back.”

But it was yours the entire time.

The work isn’t becoming powerful.

It’s remembering you have choices, trusting yourself enough to make them, and being willing to live with what happens when you do.

You don’t need your power back. You need to use it. ✦

You can’t build an extraordinary life with beliefs designed to keep you acceptable.

So I started questioning them.

Not because everything I was taught was wrong.

Because I finally understood that I get to decide what’s right for the life I’m building.

And once I changed what I believed, I started making different decisions.

Those decisions built a different woman.

And that woman built a different life.

Which belief on this carousel are you currently unlearning?

And if you know the old rules aren’t working anymore but you’re not quite sure what replaces them, book a Girl Talk session with me through the link in my bio. Let’s figure out your next move. ✦

Sometimes the lesson comes from an extremely questionable teacher. 😭

Dress like you belong there.
Make yourself recognizable.
And commit to the bit until there are receipts.

The application is yours to make ethical.

Same audacity. Fewer federal charges. ✦

What’s the most unhinged place you’ve ever gotten genuinely good advice from? 👇🏽

09/02/2026

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you are allowed to expect your already-good life to get even better.

More opportunities.
More money.
More love.
More experiences.
More rooms with your name on the list.
More ridiculous stories you can’t believe are your real life.

Gratitude does not require you to stop wanting.

And ambition doesn’t become greed just because you’re already blessed.

I’m grateful for everything I have.

I just don’t believe this is as good as it gets.

The limit does not exist. I intend to keep collecting receipts. ✦

09/02/2026

Maybe you’re not “just easygoing.”

Maybe you learned very early that being agreeable made life easier.

Don’t argue.
Don’t disappoint anyone.
Read the room.
Keep the peace.
Be helpful.
Be grateful.
Don’t ask for too much.
Make yourself easy to deal with.

And maybe those skills served you once.

But adulthood eventually asks a different question:

What is keeping you safe now that is also keeping you small?

Because the woman who can tolerate anything will tolerate too much.

The woman who never disappoints anyone will eventually disappoint herself.

And the woman who is always reading the room can spend an entire life forgetting to ask what she thinks.

You don’t have to hate the version of you who learned those skills.

You just have to recognize when they’ve outlived their assignment.

So I’m curious: what “good” trait are you starting to question? 👇🏽

Somebody in the family has to start asking questions. 😭

Who decided marriage was mandatory?

Who said motherhood was the default?

Who decided the safest career was automatically the smartest one?

Why is a woman with standards “difficult”?

And why were we taught that being “different from other girls” was somehow a compliment?

The older I get, the more I realize that a lot of becoming yourself is simply examining what you inherited and deciding:

Do I actually believe this?

Not everything our families taught us needs to be rejected.

But nothing gets to become a rule for your life just because it was a rule for theirs.

Some traditions you’ll keep.

Some you’ll change.

Some will end with you.

That’s not rebellion. That’s authorship.

Now I want to hear yours:

Finish the sentence: “First in my bloodline to ______.”

September 1 has become the internet’s unofficial deadline to “lock in.”

And I’m here for it.

But I’m not spending the next 122 days waking up at 5 AM, declining every invitation, eating chicken and broccoli, and turning my entire existence into a productivity experiment. 😭

I don’t want you to become better at controlling your life. I want you to become better at creating it.

So for the next 122 days:

Question the beliefs keeping you small.

Get specific about what you actually want.

Start behaving like the woman who has it.

Put yourself in rooms, situations and opportunities that require you to expand.

And please, have some fun while you’re doing it.

Because the goal was never to become the most disciplined, optimized, exhausted version of yourself.

The goal is to build a life that feels like yours.

122 days is enough time to collect a LOT of evidence about what happens when you stop waiting and start moving.

September 1, we lock in.

But we’re locking in on ourselves. ✦

Maybe being a little materialistic is good for you. 😭

Because at some point we have to stop treating financial discernment like a character flaw in women.

The Tinder Swindler.
The Danish Deception.
Now fake football players.

Different scam. Same question:

Why does loving a man keep requiring access to your bank account?

I’m not saying never help someone you love.

I’m saying you should be extremely interested in where your money is going, why he needs it, whether the story makes sense, and why a grown man’s financial crisis has suddenly become your responsibility.

Ask questions. Verify things. Notice inconsistencies. And stop letting “I don’t want him to think I only care about money” override your common sense.

Call me materialistic.

I prefer financially difficult to scam. 😭

The people who raised you may have taught you exactly what they knew.

How to survive.
How to be responsible.
How to keep the peace.
How to choose the safe option.
How to make something work even when it wasn’t working for you.

Those lessons may have gotten them through their lives.

But you’re allowed to want more than “getting through” yours.

At some point, growing up means realizing that loving the people who taught you doesn’t require living by every lesson they taught you.

You get to question the rules.
Keep what serves you.
Retire what doesn’t.
And build a life around who you actually are.

That isn’t disrespect.

That’s discernment.

You can honor where you came from without using it as the blueprint for where you’re going.

And if you’re realizing the old rules don’t fit anymore but you’re not sure what replaces them, book a Girl Talk session with me.

Let’s figure out what your life looks like when survival is no longer the goal. ✦
