Today, we have a video tutorial for the back carry in a Meh Dai. This is a great option to begin getting familiar with a back carry, while maintaining peace of mind that your baby has a secure seat and can see (and breathe) over the top of the carrier.

Keep in mind:
💎 There are two techniques for bringing baby to back. You may do a “swim scoot,” like I did in this video, or a “hip scoot,” during which baby is brought to the back inside of the carrier. These options are completely personal preference, but if you are unsure about your ability to do them you should schedule a consult with me before attempting either.
💎 This carry is appropriate for infants and toddlers alike, though some caregivers may find it easier with a bigger/slightly older baby.⁣
💎 When tying off, you can either cross the straps in an “X” across your chest, or bring them directly under your shoulders as I did in the video. This is also personal preference.
💎 Consider practicing this on or near your bed if it’s your first time, so there is a soft place behind you (just in case).

If you follow my personal page, you will have seen our great adventures the past few weeks! From the Grand Canyon to the Hollywood hills, we loved babywearing all around the great American West.
So, back to our carrier series. Did you enjoy the review? Great! Now let’s talk about Asian-style carriers. An easy and super-quick carrier option, the Meh Dai (you may also see it written as “Mai Tai”) was my go-to for a loooooong time. It is an ideal option for grocery stores, errands, cleaning up around the house, or even going on short walks.

Some fast facts:
💪🏼 They come with padded shoulders, wrap-style shoulders, or simple non-padded strap shoulders. (The one I am wearing here is a padded shoulder.) ⁣
💪🏼 They range greatly in price. You can find a quality pre-loved Meh Dai for as little as $30, or a nice “top shelf” one for upwards of $200.

As with the ring sling, we will do some tips and best practices in the next post, and a video tutorial to finish out the week. See you soon! 12

I hope you have been practicing, or least looking into, using a ring sling. It is a great option for beginner parents and seasoned babywearers alike. I reach for mine on an almost daily basis! ⁣

This quick video tutorial will help you get started on using a ring sling.⁣

Please remember that the more confident you are, the more comfortable your baby will feel in the carrier. Also, if the baby seems fussy at first, don’t give up on them! It is new territory for them, too. Just keep at it, and remember the best way to feel confident is to seek training from a seasoned educator. ⁣

A few things to remember for this carry:⁣
🌞 You can place the ring on either shoulder, whichever is more comfortable for you.⁣
🌞 Keep a close eye on which rail is the top and which is the bottom. Having a sling with different colors or a stripe helps with this. This is NOT a carry to flip or twist 🛑⁣
🌞 As always, take your time and tighten properly. This carry is much more comfortable if the sling is properly (strand-by-strand) tightened!⁣
🌞 It may take a few tries for this to work for you, but once you get the hang of it it’s such a huge life/time saver!⁣

🌞 This video is a re-post! 🌞⁣

Keep your eyes peeled for the Meh Dei review, coming soon!⁣

Hey everyone! How have your experiences with the ring sling been? Are you loving it yet? Let’s get into some tips and best practices for the ring sling. ⁣

🌼 Remember when tightening your ring sling, to always tighten the tail in the same direction as the wrap. Try to tighten the tail in thirds to save yourself time and get a more even wrapjob! And remember you can always go back and readjust. ⁣⁣
🌼 Always create a deep, “hammock”-like seat that encourages baby’s legs to be an an “M” (spread squat) position. ⁣⁣
🌼 Double check!! Are baby’s knees higher than her bum? Is the fabric spread evenly across baby’s back (no wrinkles or bumps)? Can you see baby’s face and open airway? ⁣⁣

These safety tips can seem daunting. Don’t let them scare you! Set up an online or in-person consult with a trained babywearing consultant to get you slinging confidently. ⁣

Remember, there are many different options for ring slings. If you don’t like the first one you use, don’t give up! It may be a matter of a different shoulder style, fabric weave, or length of material. ⁣

As always, let me know what questions you have!⁣

What does Babywearing mean to you?⁣

To me...⁣
✨ Babywearing is freedom. It’s the ease of being able to easily get around with my baby, without a bulky stroller preventing us from going wherever we want to go. ⁣
✨ Babywearing is bonding. There is nothing in the world that can replace having my girl close to me, safe, secure, and always visible. ⁣
✨ Babywearing is fun! I love trying new wraps, carrier styles, patterns, prints, and materials. The babywearing world is a big one! ⁣

Tell me, loves, why do you love babywearing? ⁣

Feeling overwhelmed by the choices out there?
Let's simplify it.

The woven wrap is an incredibly versatile baby carrier, appealing to parents across the board because of its many uses and and customizability.

The front carry in a Meh Dai is a great place to start getting familiar with the carrier, is easy to learn, and quite comfortable for new and seasoned babywearing parents alike.
When doing this carry, remember:
👉🏼 Always keep a hand on baby, throughout the entire process until baby is secured in the carrier.
👉🏼 This carry is appropriate for infants and toddlers alike, though some parents may find it easier with a bigger/slightly older baby.
👉🏼 You can tie off on the middle of baby’s back for a smaller baby, or slide the straps down under baby’s bum (knee to knee) for an older baby!

Let’s talk about Meh Dais!

Have you ever used one? No? Well, now’s the time. Summer is HOT, at least in Georgia (thanks, humidity), and if you’re anything like me you are looking for a cooler and easier solution to wear your baby in the summer heat.
The Meh Dai (Asian-style carrier) is incredibly easy to use, versatile, and long-lasting. It can be used from infancy through toddlerhood, and can be worn with a front carry or a back carry.
They come with padded shoulders, wrap-style shoulders, or simple non-padded strap shoulders. (Mine is a padded shoulder, in case you were wondering.)
What questions do you have about the Meh Dai? Are you ready to learn? Head over to lovetowearyourbaby.com or send me an email ([email protected]) to set up a consult.

Keep your eyes open for TWO video tutorials coming this week!
Thanks and keep wearing your baby!

Ring slings, continued!

🧁 Not only are they quick and easy to use, ring slings are also surprisingly diverse. They come in different fabrics, weaves, ring sizes, and shoulder types.
The wrap featured in today’s post has a padded shoulder type and a strong linen weave. It also has a pocket! Woo!
(The link sling in my previous post features a gathered shoulder.)

🧁 Remember when tightening your ring sling, to always tighten the tail in the same direction as the wrap. Try to tighten the tail in thirds to save yourself time and get a more even wrapjob! And remember you can always go back and readjust.
🧁 Always create a deep, hammock-like seat that encourages baby’s legs to be an an “M” (spread squat) position.
🧁 Double check!! Are baby’s knees higher than her bum? Is the fabric spread evenly across baby’s back (no wrinkles or bumps)? Can you see baby’s face and open airway?
