Happy 56th Birthday, Melissa McCarthy! 🎂🐙

Born on August 26, 1970, in Plainfield, Illinois, Melissa McCarthy has become one of Hollywood’s most recognizable comedy stars while also proving her range as a dramatic actress, writer and producer.

Disney fans know her as the wonderfully wicked sea witch Ursula in the 2023 live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid. Starring opposite Halle Bailey as Ariel, Melissa brought her own theatrical energy, humor and menace to one of Disney’s most iconic villains. 🐚🌊

Ursula offers Ariel the chance to become human in exchange for her voice, concealing a plan to seize King Triton’s crown and rule the seas. Melissa also performed a powerful new rendition of the classic villain song “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” originally written by Disney Legends Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. 🎶🔮

Director Rob Marshall believed Melissa made perfect sense for the role. Bringing the tentacled sea witch to life required her to work closely with dancers and stunt performers, whose synchronized movements helped create Ursula’s dramatic underwater presence. The performance introduced the beloved villain to a new generation while honoring the character made famous by Pat Carroll in Disney’s 1989 animated classic.

Melissa first became widely known as the warm and quick-witted Sookie St. James in Gilmore Girls. She later starred as Molly Flynn in Mike & Molly, winning the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. 📺🏆

Her unforgettable performance as Megan in Bridesmaids earned her an Academy Award nomination and helped establish her as a major movie star. She followed it with hit comedies including The Heat, Tammy, Spy, The Boss, Life of the Party and the 2016 Ghostbusters. 😂🎬

Melissa also demonstrated her dramatic ability as author Lee Israel in Can You Ever Forgive Me?, earning a second Academy Award nomination. Her other work includes St. Vincent, Nine Perfect Strangers, Little Big Shots and Only Murders in the Building.

Ridley Scott is developing another Alien film for 20th Century Studios as the legendary sci-fi horror franchise continues expanding.

Scott launched the franchise with the original Alien in 1979 before eventually returning to its universe decades later with Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. He also remained closely involved with Alien: Romulus as a producer. The success of that film helped put the franchise firmly back into theatrical development. Now another movie is moving through the pipeline.

Details surrounding the project remain heavily guarded. No official title, complete cast, plot, or release date has been announced for the next film. It also remains unclear exactly where the story will sit within the increasingly large Alien timeline. That leaves several major directions available for the franchise.

One possibility is continuing the storyline established by Alien: Romulus, with development on a follow-up already progressing behind the scenes. A script for a Romulus sequel has been completed, while Ridley Scott remains involved as a producer. The project has also been searching for a filmmaker to take over directing duties. That makes the next theatrical chapter one of several moving pieces inside the franchise.

Scott’s connection to Alien stretches across nearly five decades and several dramatically different versions of the mythology. Prometheus expanded the story toward humanity’s origins and the Engineers, while Covenant pushed deeper into David’s experiments and the creation of the creatures. Those unfinished threads have continued to generate possibilities for another prequel story. At the same time, newer Alien projects have opened entirely different corners of the universe.

Whatever direction the next film takes, Alien is clearly no longer sitting dormant between installments. New movies, television projects, and other franchise expansions have kept the Xenomorph universe moving forward. Ridley Scott continues to have a hand in where the cinematic side goes next, even as new filmmakers enter the franchise. Another trip into the darkness is already being prepared.

BREAKING: Rest in peace Peter Cullen, the legendary voice of Optimus Prime, who has sadly passed away at the age of 85 at his Los Angeles home.

For more than 40 years, his unmistakable voice defined Optimus across TRANSFORMERS movies, shows and games, while he also gave life to Eeyore in WINNIE THE POOH and even created the terrifying vocal sounds of the Predator.

“Autobots, roll out” will never sound the same again. Peter Cullen gave generations one of the greatest voices in pop culture, and that legacy will live forever.

To all our Generation X fans, 2026 has been extremely hard on you. This year, we have lost some amazing talent and legends.

2026 has been unbelievably rough. In just eight months, we have lost Tim Curry, Dolly Parton, Sam Neill, Eric Dane, Catherine O’Hara, James Van Der Beek, Daveigh Chase, Hayden Panettiere, Chuck Norris, Bonnie Tyler, Brenda Fricker and Robert Duvall.

They gave us unforgettable characters, timeless songs and some of the most iconic moments in entertainment, from JURASSIC PARK, HOME ALONE and DAWSON’S CREEK to THE RING, HEROES, WALKER, TEXAS RANGER and THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW.

Some made us laugh, some terrified us, some inspired us and others became part of the movies and television shows that defined entire generations.

So many familiar faces are suddenly memories now. Rest in peace to every incredible legend we have lost in 2026. Their work will live forever.

We at Ice Crystal Designs are deeply saddened to announce another legend lost this week. Tim Curry has died at the age of 80.

Tim Curry was the kind of performer who comes along once in a generation—an actor whose unmistakable voice, magnetic presence, wicked humor, and extraordinary talent made every character he played unforgettable.

For decades, Tim has invited audiences into worlds that were strange, hilarious, frightening, theatrical, and wonderfully unpredictable. Whether he was captivating audiences as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, terrifying a generation as Pennywise in Stephen King’s IT, keeping everyone guessing as Wadsworth in Clue, commanding the screen as Darkness in Legend, or stealing scenes as Long John Silver in Muppet Treasure Island, Tim never simply played a character—he completely transformed into one.

And his talent reaches far beyond those famous roles. From film and television to Broadway, voice acting, music, comedy, and drama, Tim Curry has built a career remarkable for its range. He could make us laugh in one moment and genuinely frighten us in the next. Even a supporting role could become one of the most memorable parts of a movie simply because Tim Curry was in it.

Perhaps what makes him so beloved is that he was never afraid to be different. He embraced the unusual, the outrageous, the theatrical, and the wonderfully eccentric. He showed generations of fans that being different could be powerful—and that sometimes the characters who refuse to fit neatly into the world are the ones we remember forever.

His influence can still be seen in movies, theater, horror, comedy, and popular culture today. New generations continue discovering his performances, while longtime fans can quote his lines before the characters even say them.
