Story time! People even teachers don’t understand autism and mimicking which happens often with Mazi. Mazi came to the car after school saying he hurt the teacher. I was immediately concerned. He said he hurt her head so I asked him what happened. He said he hurt her hair. I asked the teacher when she followed him to the car to tell me what happened. She said he flicker her hair and almost pulled her wig off. Mazi started telling me that she hurt his head first. So after full momma investigation it turns out that she flicks his twist when he gets a haircut and so when she got a new wig he flicked her hair and the wig was not attached. I try and tell people whatever u do to him it sets a standard for him to do the same to you. lol yall stop touching each others hair and teacher lady set the tone for the boundaries.

The Book Cover!!!
Mazi absolutely loves 2 things 1.outdoors and everything it intels and 2.music of all kinds. He went to private school initially where his education was not as focused on devices that support his needs. Mazi was fully aware of headphones and that music and videos can be accessed through them. Though he is hypersensitive to sound he looooooooooves music. He started public school in a classroom that is more conducive to his needs, kids had tablets, headphones and all types of things to make the day much easier for them. He walked in kind of stadoffish and Booooom out of nowhere as he scanned the room a pair of headphones on another child’s desk. Of course they had to be pink. Mazi walks over places them on his ears removes and replaces them several times with a look of dissatisfaction. Before I could make it to him he slung the headphone clean across the classroom. Mazi then burst out in song ( one of his faves). I was initially mortified because of what he did. Some parents who have children with sensory issues make allowances. However much like the father in the movie the Accountant I promote the things that he is most sensitive to. Eventually he either likes them or hates them, and we proceed from there. The importance of the Pink headphones is that they were noise cancellation headphones. When I found out what they were because I didn’t know, I cried for joy. Right before me he exhibited the reaching of a milestone. He didn’t want to cancel the noise he wanted music and sound and to be soothed by it much like at home, so he made his own music. Being a parent to a child experiencing autism can be very difficult at times. Because I had already raised 2 children by the time he came along, the hardest thing to do is let him lead the way at times. However, he does and it works for him most times ,maybe not for me but we’re working on that part.
