🌸 BLOOM WHERE YOU’RE PLANTED

Hope yall don't mind me sharing a little.

This picture was in my memories and I can't help but laugh 😆

And then I cry.

Because I know what was happening behind that laughter.

Mom was battling cancer. There were hard days, unanswered questions, and a future none of us could predict. Yet somehow, in the middle of it all, she still found joy.

My sister and I became pretty determined to make her laugh. We’d act ridiculous, say ridiculous things, and do just about anything to lighten the heaviness. 😂 And as you can see… sometimes we succeeded a little too well. 🤣

What gets me now is this…

How did she laugh like that when life was hurting so much?

She was still planning our annual girls’ trip. Two days into that trip, Mom was at the doctor. Life had a way of interrupting our plans, but it never completely stole her joy.

And I think that’s one of the greatest lessons she left me:

You don’t have to leave the valley to find joy.

Sometimes the sweetest flowers bloom there.

Sometimes God gives us laughter when we thought we had nothing left to laugh about. Sometimes joy looks like a silly family moment, a belly laugh, or simply choosing to be present for the beautiful moments we’re given.

The Bible says, “A joyful heart is good medicine,” and “the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

I don’t believe that means we pretend the valley isn’t hard.

I believe it means we look around and say:

Even here, God is still good.
Even here, there is still something beautiful.
Even here… I can bloom. 🌸

Life won’t always be easy. Seasons will change.

But wherever you find yourself today, I hope you’ll look for the flower.

And if you can’t find one…

Plant one. Bloom anyway. ❤️
