Hi, I'm Susan Malcik, and I have made necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and other jewelry from antique, vintage, and curious contemporary beads for many years. In 1980 my husband and I joined the Peace Corps and moved to The Gambia, West Africa. I fell in love with the people, the food, the culture, and the way women adorned themselves. Very quickly I discovered I had radar for strange and unusual b

eads. State Department, we lived in Cameroon, India, Barbados, Sénégal, Côte d'Ivoire, Djibouti, Germany, Afghanistan, Sweden, and France, and all the while I spent countless hours in places these treasure could still be found - from the flea markets of Europe to Chor Bazaar, one of the largest flea markets in India (located in Mumbai, chor means thief in Hindi), into the bowels of some of the largest markets in West and East Africa, deep into the Sahara desert to Timbuktu, along the pilgrim's route through Ethiopia and into Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Somaliland, and across the Red Sea to Yemen and Dubai. I just finished sewing this tunic/dress, and it’s for sale. Happy sweater weather coming!

Thrift shop men’s XXL Tall sweater (still had original price tag, so unworn, 60% cotton/40% polyester), pockets are of cotton knit digitally printed fabric I designed based on a photo of a detail of a mural i took in Jaipur, India around 2013. DM for details. A tall, thin woman would totally rock this.

Thrift shop spotted cat tee shirt, waistband, pockets, and skirt are of cotton digitally printed fabric I designed based on my photos of street art in Paris around 2011 (the skeletons) and a photo of the side of a beautifully painted truck in Chenai, India from around 2013. DM for details.

Vintage and thrift shop finds (Ted Baker blouse, waistband from a men’s casual shirt, and cute pockets from a frightful dress) were mixed with digitally printed pink skull fabric I designed based on my photos of street art in Paris around 2011. DM for details.
