As life unfolded, and after my mother's passing in 2018, I found solace and purpose in caring for her memories. With an abundance of time at hand, I ventured into curating sarees, transf

orming a personal passion into a business: Drapes and Folds. This endeavor became an extension of her love and my own affection for sarees. Each piece in my collection holds not just the craftsmanship of weavers and vendors but also the essence of my mother's enduring love. Through the sadness and struggles, this business has become a poignant connection to her. It feels as though she is with me always, woven into every fold and drape. In the short memories I have of her, the sarees stand as tangible expressions of our shared love. They say you should wear your heart on your sleeve, but I prefer to stitch my story into the folds of a Kanchi silk.

I’ve long admired the strength of Ikat Kanchi weaves, but for this wedding, I wanted to take it a step further with custom embroidery. Seeing the design come off the page and onto the silk is the exact reason I started Drapes and Folds. It’s an honor to wear something that balances the weight of tradition with a personal, modern touch.
