Sure, we dig it when our shops are full of people getting geared up to head out on their next adventure. But we also love meeting and chatting with people who are psyched about the same stuff we are or ogling maps on the counter for an hour with folks over a cup of coffee. We have a lot to keep track of these days but our commitment to personalized retail has not changed. It blows us away to think

of all the places you can shop for outdoor equipment, clothing and accessories these days, from box stores to mail order and the Internet. But the Wildernest is a locally owned and operated business and the community of Bainbridge Island is as important to us as we are to them. We want our business to be a blessing to the residents, main street and to the community organizations who we support and do business with. Let's face it, any outdoor store or online retailer can sell you stuff. But the folks who work at the Wildernest also have a real knack for helping you find the right gear or clothing, whether it's for your next jaunt around the world or to go to the dog park down the road. They know all about the products that we sell, but are not the super agro, "type A" egomaniacs that some shops employ. They are regular (well...!) people who love their work and want an opportunity to not only serve you, but to get to know you as well.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Retail Sales Associate / Manager to join our team at Wildernest on Bainbridge Island. As a Sales Associate / Manager, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service in many areas and helping to create and maintain a healthy, efficient work family. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are passionate about working with people and enjoy being part of a supportive, encouraging team.
Duties:
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, providing them with product information and assistance, addressing customer inquiries and resolving any issues or concerns
- Assist customers in finding the right products to meet their needs
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to process customer transactions accurately
- Handle cash transactions and maintain accurate cash register balances
- Maintain a clean and organized sales floor, including restocking and straightening merchandise
- Assist with inventory management, including helping to receive and prepare new and existing merchandise
- Collaborate with team members to create a fun and supportive work environment
Experience:
- Previous experience in retail sales or customer service is preferred but not required
Skills:
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Sales knowledge is a plus
- Website management is a plus
- Strong work ethic
- Commitment to creating and maintaining a healthy, supportive work environment
