I went to an estate sale about 3 or 4 years ago. Along with all the usual stuff you expect to see, like furniture, equipment, and knickknacks, I found a ton of deadstock vintage gear. Apparently, back in the day, the family owned a shop that did embellished sportswear - think jackets for a union's baseball team, or tees for a local trucking company. So in addition to a few blank sweatshirts, I stumbled upon a box that contained at close to 100 hats. Different colors, fabrics, styles, but all made in America back in the 70s and 80s. And rather than haggle over the price of a few different pieces, I made an offer for the whole lot...and it was accepted! So I took the hats home and let them sit in my garage for years!!!...until now...something special on the way soon!

So you’ve heard of "Spanglish", right? I never learned how to be conversational in German...as I got older, people would always ask "Sprechen Sie Deutsch?" and l'd always have to respond "nein".

However, I did retain a lot of random words in phrases, and sprinkled them in with English. For instance, like how to count, or the word "hasenpfeffer", which is some kind of rabbit soup, or how "schnell" means quickly, even though it kinda sounds like snail.

Anyway, I'm always mashing things up, so of course I had to do the same for the first shoe.

It's called the Wünderflügel, which is "wonder wing" or "wonderful wing" which felt appropriate to me because it's a mashup of a mule and a wingtip. Fun fact, my first pair of "grownup" shoes, was the Florsheim Veblen - so l've had a thing for wingtips since then.
